I was just wondering if anyone has this phone and what they think of it. When i saw this price i didnt think it was that bad. I know the 3g coverage isnt the best at the mo but i would like to know what people think of the actual phone. Its the NEC e606. Thanks in advance.

It's big (a little bigger than a GD87), runs a proprietry OS and (apparently) has a battery life that makes the SPV's look impressive. Your web surfing is limited to the "3" portal, and nothing else.

The coverage for 3G services at the moment is limited to only a handful of major cities...other than that you#re stuck on O2's 2G network.

Maybe if it was more feature packed/customisable/less restricted it would seem more appealing. But at the moment i'll be keeping my 25.G handset....

I've got both ;) and agree with Mono. With the two NEC phones, unless you have 3G coverage, all you get is voice and SMS. The Motorola will work with GPRS but doesn't do video calling!

If I had to pay for mine then I wouldn't bother.....at the moment. I'd wait for:

1. A phone that does video calling and works over GPRS.

2. Coverage in general to improve.

3. Battery life to be extended.

4. The ability to access the WWW instead of just the Three portal.

5. The ability to use the phone as a 3G modem (I don't think this will come along for a while since Three's billing is not set up to monitor bytes transferred or time 'online' - you pay per 'event'. This actually works ok and at least you know before downloading content how much it is going to cost you).

There's other things that need to be improved but the above are the main issues for me. The SPV has far more functionality, much better integration with your Desktop (actually, the NEC has none - just the ability to transfer files, .vcfs etc back and forwards), and just works better :)

why not get something for half the price then and save a hundred quid? one of those cheap nokias. what do you need an extra one for?why not get something for half the price then and save a hundred quid? one of those cheap nokias. what do you need an extra one for?

Have you thought about getting another number/tariff on Line 2?

I wouldn't bother with splashing that much cash for the e606 - but then I would say that wouldn't I! Mines going back at the end of the promo period and so's the missus's - she's about to order an SPV ;) (Unless someone says the SPVx will be out in a few weeks - (excluding Orange of course!)

Doesnt the e606 have a built in camera though, i.e. cheaper version of the gd87???
