Guest Brody Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Looks good! A working stopwatch at last! And i love battleships on my girlfriends T68i so am tempted!!
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 There is a Freebee french StopWatch .. that sorta works ... called Chrono! I would like that BattleShip app tho *drool*chrono.jpg
Guest midnight Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 i mentioned battleships ages ago, surprised we havent taken it up to be honest, ah well
Guest Simon Desser Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 CHEEKY BA***RDS :!:  I've just paid for, and downloaded the full package, only to find that the battleships game says it's only a demo :!: It says that the enemy ships will always be placed in the same position, unless I buy the full version. The Alarm clock seems ok, but a little bit quirky, if you try and change a time by clicking "done", it stays the same when you go back in again, unless you come off the time and click on something else before hitting done (sorry if it doesnt make sense) And I'd bloody love to have an alarm clock that shows an icon on the homescreen when the alarm is set?! I've not tried the Stopwatch yet. Oh! and by the way, a very minor thing cos I'll move the shortcut myself, but surely Battleships should be filed in Games on your phone, not just slapped in Programs?
Guest StoutMan Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 does the alarm clock work when the phone is switched off. Is there a alrm symbol on the home screen ?
Guest Simon Desser Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 There's more :!: The Stopwatch installer doesn't work with ActiveSync, so I had to go to Program Files, Microsoft ActiveSync, Sunnysoft, (on my PC) and copy the cab file to my phone, and install it by browsing to it with a file explorer app. I know most of us here would know how to do that, but I'm sure there's plenty of people out there who wouldn't?
Guest Simon Desser Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 does the alarm clock work when the phone is switched off. Is there a alrm symbol on the home screen ? No (I suspect that's down to HTC/Microsoft) and No (I really hoped it would have a Homescreen icon ;) )
Guest Speedy Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Just dl the trial. he he the alarm clock will only let you set it on mon wed and friday. What a joke. Where is the trial in that. You know what i would love..... An alarm that works just like in my old ericsson T39m Advantages: -- Shows when alarm is on on home screen -- Does not "stay" on day after day. (i hate it when i have to get up at nine to go to work on saturday, and then i wake up at nine on sunday because i forgot to switch it off, grrr.) -- The alarm works even if you switch your phone off at night If somebody could program a decent alarm that would do this, i would be willing to pay for sure. And i do not think that it only counts for me.
Guest Thurstan Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 I'd definitely pay for a versatile alarm... At the risk of mixing this post up with 'Wishlist', I'd love an alarm which you could set a different time for each day. I don't even know if this is possible - but I work shifts and one day can be getting up at 4:30am, the next day possibly 2pm! If you could also select different wavs as alarm tones, and have an icon on the homescreen, it would be perfect for me.
Guest Simon Desser Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 I'd love an alarm which you could set a different time for each day. You could use this alarm to do that, but doing it that way you could only do it for 5 days of the week. You can also assign a different wav to each individual alarm, but I think theres only a very small selection included, and I couldn't see a way of using your own (hopefully I'm wrong I'll try when I've got more time) The only thing it doesn't do, is display an icon on the Homescreen. Cheers Simon.
Guest Charlie Mouse Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 Everyone keeps asking for an alarm that works even if the phone is turned off and the built in alarm does work with the phone turned off. It just doesn't work with the PC part turned off. The power button turns off the 'PC' and the 'Radio Off' function turns off the phone.
Guest simon11 Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 CHEEKY BA***RDS :!: Â  Â I've just paid for, and downloaded the full package, only to find that the battleships game says it's only a demo :!: Â It says that the enemy ships will always be placed in the same position, unless I buy the full version. How much extra is it to buy the full battleship game?
Guest Simon Desser Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 That's the whole point, I've paid for the full package ($9.99), but they've accidentally bundled the demo of Battleships with it. The other two apps are full versions. I've emailed Handango support, and they're looking in to it :?:

I posted that from my mobile, GPRS is a bag sh*te today, 3 times when I pressed submit, it just hung, and then said "the page you are looking for cannot be found" I then, at the first opportunity went on my PC to check it had worked, and saw the repeat posts, and immediately edited my message. (Before having seen yours!) ;)
Guest simon11 Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 I was a bit slow there. I didn't realise it was a mistake. I thought it was a Con.
Guest Simon Desser Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Just a little update regarding Battleships only being a demo, despite having paid for the full version. 1) Emailed Handango support, who emailed back saying they had no record of my order! 2) Emailed Handango with a copy of their confirmation of my purchase. 3) Handango replied they are looking into it. 4) Handango replied that the problem has now been resolved, and I need to re-download the software ;) 5) Just re-downloaded it and installed it and guess what :?: STILL A DEMO
Guest Hax Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Everyone keeps asking for an alarm that works even if the phone is turned off and the built in alarm does work with the phone turned off. Â It just doesn't work with the PC part turned off. Â The power button turns off the 'PC' and the 'Radio Off' function turns off the phone. That's a bit pedantic really - when people say when the phone is turned off, they mean the phone as a whole unit, not just the phone part of the processor. In actualy fact, I consider the contacts, call list, sms editor, etc... part of the "phone" if you're going to start breaking it down like that, but they don't get turned off do they?!?!?! What you are referring to is the turning off of the "radio" functionality of the phone - this is a subsection of the phone, *not* the phone itself. As far most are concerned, they have bought a *phone*, not an LCD screen, with a pcb with various resistors, capacitors, an ASIC comprising an ARM 7 running at 87 MHz for the radio funtionality and an ARM 9 running at 133MHz for the operating system and applications, a plastic case and a battery. People are looking for functionality similar to that found on Nokia's and other manufacturers where you can turn off the whole phone, but have it come alive when your alarm clock is due to go off. This is not currently possible - I don't believe that either the hardware or Microsoft Smartphone OS support it - if I'm wrong, please feel free to correct me. Hax
Guest Simon Desser Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Final update about the problems with this application package:- After a few attempts to sort out the problems with this software package, Handango have asked me to "destroy" this software, and are giving me a refund
Guest gwiz Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 We want a photo of you taking an axe to your hardrive, only then can handango be content in the knowledge it is destroyed..
Guest ianharvey Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Did you have any further comments on the functionality/reliability of the apps? Did you destroy it and get a refund? I am almost certain to buy if the alarm works as described. This could help me take my damn medication for once! Don't really care about the Battleships aspect. TIA Ian
Guest axe Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 a cheap alternative to this alarm clock, if you want to set different times for different dates, is set up synchronistion with outlook, then make a calender entry, mark it as a recurring appointment ... repeat for each day of the week with different time ... then synch your mobile with your outlook
Guest ianharvey Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Thanks for the tip, but it's not really practical as the appointments end up in the display and if you are not careful on other devices if you don't categorise them.
