Smart Explorer 1.0b3 (with full ZIP file support)

New version beta 2 is available. It includes the full support of ZIP files. I have made a lot of tests to ensure compatibility, but I can't garantee you won't get some minor bugs. Please give me some feedback in this case. The supported functions are:

- Creation of ZIP files by adding all files that are selected

- Possibility to create a ZIP and attach it to a new email

- Possibility to unzip files. The unzipped files are stored in the same folder.

Note that encrypted or password protected ZIP files are not supported yet. I will improve these functions in the next version. I will also improve design of the progress dialog.

I have also rewritten the send by IR function to improve compatibility. I made it work with a 8310 (beta 1 was not working). Unfortunately, only vcards are accepted by the 8310. So it's not a very valuable test. Feedback on this function is also much appreciated.

Jacoch you are a star!! Just tested the new version and seems to be working perfectly - I've been waiting for the zip functionality!!

One minor problem with the install - it couldn't remove the old version properly, maybe because it installs to folder "Smartexplorer" instead of "SmartExplorer EN"?? Nothing that can't be fixed tho!!

I didn't test removal of an old version. I checked on my spv by upgrading beta 1 and it worked. Sorry for the trouble.

I also forgot to thank the guy on Modaco that suggested the ZIP and email feature. I didn't remember his name yet :oops:

Jacoch, I'm afraid I'm having some problems with this new version :oops:

Firstly, when I try to zip some files I get an error message (screen shot attached) Then I can't get out of Smart Explorer, and I have to "Kill Process" with Task Manager?

And now, when beaming a file to my PC by infrared, both the phone, and the PC say it has failed, when in fact the transfer has been successful? (PC screenshot attached)

(I think I'm jinxed tonight)

Someone on Smarpthony reported exactly the same problem. I'm trying for 30 min to reproduce. Impossible. Don't know what happen yet. Very strange. I continue investigating and hope having a fix very quickly.

Regarding the send IR, I will check this. Maybe just an wrong flag sent at the end of the transfer.

It's a planned feature. But as there are several versions of ZIP files and I can't test all of them by myself, I have released this beta version to get feedback. My wish is to get a way to unzip files that are for example attached to emails, without the need to save the attachment, rename it and open it in Smart Explorer. A kind of expander will maybe be available. I'm also searching a way to browse archive content and extract some files without the need to extract entire package. Not sure if it will be included in Smart Explorer or as a separate app.

Task Manager and Smart Explorer are number 1 and 2 in my Programs Menu! I LUFF these programs!!

I was so full of joy today, when I saw that you had added zip support, that I rushed to your site, downloaded the app and went straight to registration to cough up some $ - but either it's not accepted yet, or I was on the wrong page!!

Keep up the good work Jacoch! I really like your apps. I have downloaded the latest release of Smart Explorer, the B3 version. I tested the program using two tanagers and it works perfect when receiving via IR receive under accessories. But when I run the program on two phones, and selected a folder on one phone and select Receive from IR, then on the other phone I selected one file and selected the Send by IR and beam the two phones, the file was successfully sent and displays Done on the transmitting phone. On the receiving phone, it was still on the receiving state and displays Cancel below when in fact the transfer was already done. When I press Cancel, the phones' operation slows down and somewhat put the phone in a hang-up state. Have you check on this one?

I have found some minor bugs in the send IR function. I'm actually finishing beta 4 and it should be available probably tomorrow evening. If you can try this again with next version, I will much appreciate. Thanks for your feedback.
