Guest Simon Desser Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 Did any of you who were at the MoDaCo event in London notice that some of MS guys (and maybe the Orange one) had "TescoPocketShopper" on their SPV's/Tanagers? I saw it in their program lists, but didn't actually see it running. I don't know how useful it is, but I wonder if it's something that's coming out shortly?
Guest bdmoore Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 Was it a standalone app or part of their website??
Guest Brody Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 I wasn't there unfortunately, (would love to go to the next if there's gonna be another???) but this sounds rather intersting doesn't it?!
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 I saw it running, it looked pretty cool ;) It was a standalone app, don't know if there are plans for release tho... P
Guest Brody Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 Paul, i'm sure that this is being brought up far to close to the last meeting but are there at least thoughts of another meeting of us SPV lovers? I couldn't make it to the last one unfortunately! And do u have to own an SPV to gain entry cos a friend is thinking of buying one and was going to come to the last to see what he was missing!! Sorry if u feel that this is a cross post(?!) its just that while we are on the subject of the meeting etc....
Guest Simon Desser Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 Was it a standalone app or part of their website?? It could have been just the Budweiser going to my head  I'm not sure, but I definitely remember seeing it on more than one phone :?:
Guest Soyale Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 There's a press release which covers Tesco Phone Shopper. It's another joint DAT/Tesco development and is in development at the moment however there is currently no release date. If any of you who went to the London event have a Pocket PC there was the latest (unreleased) version of Tesco Pocket Shopper (PPC) on the card. Otherwise go to www.tesco.com/pocketshopper. HTH jp
Guest abamara Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 Link does not work! We-ll not quite!
Guest bdmoore Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 Just had a look at the PPC version on their website - it looks pretty cool, would definitely like to see it working on my SPV!! ;)
Guest Brody Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 Using my amazing powers of deduction i have worked out that the url shouln't have a fullstop at the end of it!! Try this!
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 That would be me, I fixed the original post ;) Hehehe... P
Guest orangewinger Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 What you saw was a stand alone demo. The application is currently in development and hopefully will see the light of day this year! We are currently about 50% of the way through the coding. Here's a sneak peek:tps.JPG
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 Huzza! Now I NEVER need to leave the house! BTW, is there going to be another meet?
Guest Saif Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 One of my e-commerce assignments for my MSc was looking at Tesco's venture into the mobile market. There are a couple of sites which are worth looking at. Namely: http://www.tesco.com/superstore/p/pocketshopper.htm also have a look at this tesco site which was designed for the visually impaired. However, it works wonderfully on the SPV's browser... http://www.tesco.com/access/ also read about the reasons behind the sites design and benefits here: http://siteusability.com/tesco.html Hope this helps somebody.... I have more info.. but I think I will spare you all.... The nice people at the DATGroup have more info too....
Guest madu Posted July 13, 2003 Report Posted July 13, 2003 PS: There is a PPC version on Orange 8MB SD card
Guest thetownfool Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Hi Guys, has this now been shelved?? because non of the links to tesco work. the support forum appears to have vanished and i can't get the app to update the list thanks townfool
Guest Pigo Posted October 2, 2004 Report Posted October 2, 2004 I've never heard of tesco. Is this ordering groceries through the internet and getting it delivered at your door? would be cool to have that here in the netherlands :)
Guest Colonel Trouble Posted October 3, 2004 Report Posted October 3, 2004 Yep its a mobile app (from what I can gather) from a shop in the UK that we all know and love called tesco , who have a fantastic online shop which delivers your groceries straight to your door after ordering online! To have this on a smartphone means , maybe my mum would get one :)
Guest Pigo Posted October 3, 2004 Report Posted October 3, 2004 yeah I think my mommy dearest would LOVE that app aswell. still would take her 3 years to understand how a Smartphone works :? Pigo
Guest paulcdb Posted October 25, 2004 Report Posted October 25, 2004 we all know and love called tesco *cough* can't say i'd go that far but the app looks cool ^_^
