Orange SPV not turning on :(

Had my SPV for about two months and its been great - however for the first time that I recall since having it I had to turn it off today as the battery was running very low and I was away from the charger

Have come home, plugged it in to charge and now when I try and switch it on it just stops at the sunrise orange screen - is this norm do I have to have it on charge for some time ?

If you managed to switch the SPV off before it did it itself, then this is a bit weird!

Mine ran out of bettery itself one day, and when I charged it, got stuck on the blue smartphone intro screen. I just left it to charge itself fro a while (maybe 15 mins) then removed it from the cradle, reset, & it came on fine.

Try this out. If that doesnt work I'm afraif that's my only idea!! You could always hard reset if everythings gone pear shaped!

Good luck!

If this problem persists you may need to try a hard reset, failing that

it could be a return trip to Orange ;)

Being stuck on the sunset screen is a known fault.

How do I do a hard reset >?

I have tried

) Remove the battery and wait 5 seconds. Replace the battery

2) Press and Hold voice recorder button (below power button on the left)

3) Power-on the device

4) The device will enter a special power-up mode

5) "Card found" will be displayed on the screen

6) Shortly after you will receive two options:

"Press any key to enter boot loader"

"Press action button to enter diag mod"

7) Press and hold the Action button

8) After a few seconds a menu will be displayed

9) Select "Erase IPSM" and wait for the screen to display "PASSED"

10) Then move to the left with the navigation button and select "END"

11) A screen with three colours will be displayed

You may now remove and replace the battery and perform a normal power up. ;)

but i dont get the option to enter diag mode ! what is an action key ? all that happens is the phone jumps to the screen with three colors

First have a storage card in the phone before starting as it slows the process down.

The action button is the center button on middle (push down) of the fiveway controller.

Also the "end" may not be there, don't worry about it.

also you do not need to remove the battery to restart the phone

all you have to do is press and hold the power button until the phone

starts to re-boot again.

Thaks - tried that but I only get the option for bootloader and not diag mode ;)

that's fine the bootscreenloader IS the diagnotic screen.

when it says press any key don't you have to press the action button.

Sorry I forgot to add that you need to be quick as timing is everything to

get into the boot screen.

I was afraid of this happening ;) like I posted above if a hard reset does not work

you will have to return the phone to Orange for a replacement.

Hopefully you have orange care.

oops sorry i forgot (again ) to add that you may have to wait

for a while for the phone to finish booting. This is normal after a hard

reset and it can stay on the sunset screen for a few minutes.

Glad you got it working! I was almost having a sympathy heart-attack! The one time I thought I had messed up my phone, I nearly cried *sniffles*!

Have fun rebuilding your phone =)
