REQ: Ported Flash Player

Well i've had my smartphone now since christmas, and i thought it would only be a matter of time before the flash player would come on to the smartphone, and the more i read about ported pocket apps, it seemed to me that it would only be a matter of changing a few bitz.

However, as you can see there is still now flash player. Would someone please have a go at putting one together, surly the pocket PC version can be altered to work on the smartphone.

Being a Flash Designer, the sooner the flash player is out, the sooner i can make shed loads of cool games and stuff.

If anyone is up for the challenge i'll gladly be your guini pig.

Neither, I heard something from someone else (a 100% reliable source btw).

All I heard was that a working version exists, no more...

Cool. I've seen some really nice flash games on the macromedia website - the prospect of them making it to the spv is very droolworthy

too right, have you played the snake game thats available for unlocked SPV's, cos they have a high score upload at the end, which would be possible with the flash player, plus i see no reason why multiplayer games couldn't be developed (battleships, chess or draughts)

Check out www.aliveis.com for some cool flash games, all of which could easily be made to work on the SPV.

I think if the flash player comes to the SPV a whole new era is gonna arrive, no more worrying about certifying your apps, all your games would be guaranteed to work, the scope is endless.

Just hope it arrives sooner rather than later.

Paul, is that an official signed thing, or a 'bedroom programmer' thing?

Since noone's told me anything I can speculate that it's probably coming from Macromedia. They'd be nuts not to port it.

sorry, but i must say i hate flash, for interfaces it sucks (mainly overdone, clumsy and big filesize), and for games, well, i aint seen many that are any good, perhaps the xaio xaio games, but thats it, those aliveis games sucked pretty badly.

i know what you mean, but in my defence (Being a flash programer) the effectivness and usability of flash lies in the hands of the programmer, i personally work hard to bring down file sizes and make flash apps as userfriendly as possible.

Flash has a pretty bad rap because people get a hold of it and just start doing cheesey animations or extrodinary navigations that are huge in size. But when it's done properly it can be supurb, lookin better and functioning better than other alternatives.

People just need to apprechiate the people who spend the time to do this, i mean i'm sure you have scowered the net for some little app, and have downloaded 10 crappy apps before you find the one that someone has actually spent the time to make it look and feel right.

Sorry, didn't mean to go on, just started the topic to find out if anything was heppening with it, not justifying it. everyone has there own oppinion of it.

I just wanna get my hands on it cos it's much easier to program games and the likes than with the Smartphone SDK

This is the official answer I got from the Macromedia Customer Service:

I am sorry but we don't have any future information on the developing the Macromedia Flash Player for MS Smartphone. You can check the Macromedia web page on a regular basis to find out the latest updates.

So I do not know if they are really working on it. At least they are not proud enough to already talk about it.

But if there is any beta-realease somewhere, I am interested.

It's real.....

If they get round to releasing it is a different matter! (flash is CPU cycle hungry) :)
