Guest pablo diablo Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Hi Folks-I am looking to replace my mobile & pda with something like the SPV. I am looking (if poss) to run SPV (or similar), with a GPS receiver. Firstly does anybody know if this is poss @ mo & Secondly, would appreciate SPV owership rating (features, ease of use, reliability etc). The above would feature & really help me make a decision. Cheers. pablo d
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 The SPV is fully capable of capturing NEMA frames from a GPS receiver over a serial link, with an XDA Serial cable and a cross-over adaptor. There are no apps making use of that at the moment, tho. This should change soon(er or later). As for feature lists and recommendations, there are many threads on that subject, and nothing will be able to replace you reading them :) We've just gone thru some P800-SPV mini-flamewars, and the combatants are nursing their wounds, I suspect you will get few answers on that question.
Guest Emad Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Some companies have been working on GPS recievers specifically for the SPV as well - do a lil search on the forum (I would, but I'm lazy :)). I'd give it a couple of months tops. Features: 9/10 - think pocket pc in a phone Ease of use: 6/10 - most people can't use pcs well.. Reliability: 8/10 - after the update that is.. The main niggles are the stupid keys/joystick, have a go with them before you buy. Look around and you'll find more, of course ;)
