Guest cyrilthefish Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 I took my SPV into the carphone warehouse store to see if they can replace my phone (i have accidental damage insurance) the tops of the keys are wearing off and i've lost nearly all the paint off the bottom of the phone (plus missing sections of paint all around other parts of the silver casing) they said "we can send it off for the casing to be changed, but it'll take 2 weeks" is this true? or was the shop assistant just trying to get rid of me? i have accidental damage insurance, but that has a £20 excess on it if i claim, and having to go 2 weeks without a mobile is silly! any reccomendations as to what to do next?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 What have you done to it to get it into that state? 2 weeks sounds about right btw...
Guest cyrilthefish Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 it's result of it just being in my jeans pocket a lot! though i do occaisionly keep loose change in the same pocket, which would explain the missing paint at the bottom! the keys wearing out though are just from sheer use though, which is worrying. why couldn't they have used silver coloured plastic instead of painted greyish plastic? it would have been far more hard-wearing! i guess i was too used to my old siemens SL45i, the aluminium casing was virtually indestructable! (i once dropped it onto a paving slab and caught it when it bounced back off the floor, it was hardly scratched!)
Guest yatpeak Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 If you do get it replaced/fixed/repainted, I suggest you get a case, my phone has only lost a little bit of paint from the cradle/charger,and it's got almost not scratches or dust on the screen. Wyatt
