I did this months ago but as Ive slept since then, cant remember what I did. Someone in MoDaCo world please help. And Believe me, I have searched the site TIA Damo
Guest Chic0 Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 You need to save the wav in ACM format using a program like Cool Edit Pro or Soundforge. Encode it as 22khz, 16bit mono. This should bring down the filesize. ;)
Guest badboy4life Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 You could try the following(seems to work well for me): »Open the file in sound recorder in windows »Select the file properties in the file menu »Select convert in the encoding area »Select the GSM format think the highest one encodes at 8kb/sec This is the same format the phone uses when recording notes using the side button.
Guest morpheus Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 2 Options with CoolEdit Firstly open your wav file * Goto EDIT>CONVERT SAMPLE RATE. Convert the wav to ...sample rate 800>Mono>8 (or 16) bit and hit ok. Crop file and save. Your file size will decrease option 2 Do not open a file, yet * Goto FILE>OPEN AS and open your wav and a dialog box will appear with the file settings, change them accordingly, crop the file and save  Morpheus
Guest damianbyrne Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 Thanks for that everyone, Didnt realise Nero Wave Editor would do it! Right then, where's all my MP3s gone......
Guest SuperStar Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 I use "total Recorder"... Play the music with you "player" ex. WinAmp, and then record the sequence you want to be your "ringtone" and save it as .wav Then open the file in Total Recorder and past it to your smartphone.... It's a very easy way.... And it works.....

Guest axe Posted June 30, 2003 Report Posted June 30, 2003 marky, you're file is the wrong TYPE of wave file ... convert it to PCM WAVE using Cool Edit ... or maybe open and save the file in windows Sound editor (i'm not sure that will work)
