Knowing that there is at least one other person on this forum who runs TiVo Web, I was wondering if anyone has, or would care to develop or modify the existing TiVo Web modules so that they are SPV 'friendly'? Perhaps someone who has made such a good job of making MoDaCo SPV 'friendly' :)

I regularly access TiVo remotely from my SPV (plus it makes quite a good 'showoff' SPV demo) which would be even better if I didn't have to scroll left & right ;)

You'll be glad to hear that I have a 240GB modded TiVo with Turbonet (plugged into Wireless LAN) and TivoWeb, and porting the TivoWeb templates to be SPV friendly is my next SPV friendly project after i've perfected the mobile version of the forum.

The look will probably be very similar to the forum style, with shortcut keys etc (see http://www.modaco.com/mobile if you haven't tried it!)

I wouldn't bother with a Tivo, nice idea but poorly executed. Sky+ is the way to go, much better quality recording (broadcast quality) and has the added bonus of being able to record one sky program while watch a different one. They have recently launched a new feature which records the previous 30 minutes of whatever you are watching so you can rewind live tv as well as pause it.

And the box looks so much better than a tivo which is ugly as hell. It's also one less box under the tele as it replaces the sky decoder rather than adding to it.

Only downside with Sky+ is the cost which is more than a tivo and the monthly cost is more as well.

a. Unless you have Cable & not Sky!

b. You want to be shelling out to the Murdoch empire forever and a day

c. Unless you want an intelligent machine that will automatically record programmes for you based on previous recordings

d. Unless you want a linux box that is easy to upgrade in terms of hard disk capacity, make it network enabled, run Web server software that allows you to securely browse into your box and manage it from your SPV :) (BTW, thanks Paul, I was just checking you hadn't forgotten!)

e. Unless.....etc etc.

Anyway, I shall be drawn no more into the great TiVo vs. Sky+ (not least because it is OT!). Suffice to say, they do both have their adavantages and disadvantages. There is a good unbiassed comparison of the two here.

Slight downside - Thomson have stopped making them........for now!

Anyway, to bring this back On Topic - Paul, if you would like someone to help out with the testing of the modules, I'm more than willing ;)
