I know this has been posted several times before, but i do not get why there is not any developers looking into this.

I would just love to have an app that could improve this, and i do not think i am the only one.

something to do with the hardware that the camera has inside it mate...

It's all down to the hardware I'm afraid. Thge serial interface the phone uses to connect with the camera (and USB port etc.) only runs at ~12kbps (I think it's somewhere around that), so it is not able to transfer the images fast enough to make a decent refresh rate.

As for the brightness, that's what you get for not having a flash, but I do agree this could be helped slightly with the correct software (i.e. keeping the shutter open for longer), but then you would need a very very steady hand to not get blurred pictures

There isn't really much that can be done about the camera brightness- the tiny lens physically limits how much light can enter it. Enhancing the image in software won't help much if the detail isn't in the source. We'll have to wait for better SDIO cameras, which should also help the refresh rate problem! ;)

I'm fairly sure that the refresh rate wasn't as bad with the old method of taking pics (from the MMS menu) pre-UK Update... It seems a lot worse now...

It might be possible to improve the image with a better image balance of colours... or brightness adjustment. Then again you can do all that on your pc...

just a thought....

What is the honest likelyhood that somebody will bother to take the time to create a decent camera for the SPV?

Looks like we're stuck doesn't it.

My girle had a Panasonic GD87 (briefly). The lens on that camera was just as small, but the quality of picture was FANTASTIC! I mean fantastic too! Even in a poorly lit room in fornt of the telly great piccy's could be taken. Shame the phone itself was a lump of malfunctioning poo though!

Why did they not take their time & develop something wonderful to slap on the bottom of our phones?.... Oh that's right, it was probably all tested in a 2Gwatt ANSI-lumins, bright as the sun laboratory!

Phew... got that off my chest...
