Guest funkmaster Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 Im telling you im getting screwed with my bill.. it works out at like 40ish for the line rental (inc orange care & spv promo). Add my many many calls and txts (Planus might help reduce this tho :-p). However every time i get the bill i think to myself.. thats it, im calling orange.. but everytime i ask to change tarrif, i get persuaded into getting a more expensive tarrif, however it "will save me money in the long term" - its driving me nuts, ive just paid out £123.42 and its is really gettin to me, so im askin you guys what tarrifs you use.. i need xnet mins and txt msgs - help!
Guest James Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 i use a orange price matched tariff for the old one 2 one precept 200 tariff. twenty five for the line rental wit everything else comes to about 50-60 A month. and i think that is too expensive!
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 OVP O2 Leasure Plus. £20/month: 100 free sms/500 landline mins/50xnet mins (all off peak) Look up the tarrif you want on www.orange.co.uk and ask specifically for that tarrif. I've done that twice with no problems...
Guest bdmoore Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 Orange OVP O2 100 - 100 xnet anytime mins and 100 texts for £25 per month (plus GPRS and Orange Care) That combined with Planus for extra texts is perfect for me! ;)
Guest capt_janeway Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 Everyday 50 for me! 50 mins a day off peak and all weekend for £15 per month!

Guest Gorskar Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 I wouldn't bother with text bundles - its cheaper to use planus (hopefully their billing system will be perfected soon)
Guest Big Ron - No Longer a Mem Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 If your phone's unlocked, then there are some amazing tariffs available on the web as "SIM only" deals. I've been commending Scancom.co.uk as if I own shares in the company.... but that's simply because they were the first ones I discovered who had these deals, and so tried them out myself. I switched from Orange PAYG to an O2 contract. My usage pattern is "low use, and mostly during the day", so I was restricted in my choice - I bought two SIMs for £10. Each gives me 30 free "anytime" minutes a month, and the running cost (if I stay within the 30 minutes per card) is £1.77 a month. That's it. "Line rental" is zero. The ONLY cost is the £1.77 for "itemised billing". You can also get off-peak deals which provide a LOT more time (and free texts) Although the SIMS are more expensive - around £20 each. As far as I can see, there is NO catch. If someone came to me NOW and said "I don't own a mobile phone, but want to buy one, what should I buy, and what contract?" My unequivocal answer would be "get a refurbished, SIM-free phone (they start as cheap as £25) and a SIM-only deal with O2 or T-Mobile" Under some conditions (heavy usage in the evenings and weekends, off-peak) it would actually work out CHEAPER over a year's use than the "Liberate" tariff Orange offer their own staff - and THAT includes a free phone, and a flat 1p a minute rate. Say £35 for the phone, plus £20 for the SIM, gets you 750 "free" off-peak minutes a month and 50 SMS's... for £1.77 a month. Use a "SIM doubler" and one "Anytime" SIM plus one "off Peak" SIM, and (as long as you remember to switch over at the appropriate tariff "peak/off-peak"switching point!) total cost for the year is around £107.50. That's roughly £9 a month for 30 minutes of peak calls, 750 minutes off peak, and 50 SMS's. Not a bad price!
