Guest Simon Desser Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 I'm probably being thick, but here goes! When typing an SMS using the fabric keyboard, when you want to add a contact, it just brings up the first one in the list, and then you have to scroll through tons of them? Pressing a letter on the keyboard (like you can on the phone) to narrow down your options doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong?
Guest fozzie Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 Nope, it's the same for me. I reported it to orange yesterday as a bug. Just waiting for a respose. As an aside, I did get a response from them about the fact that the application hotkeys have been coded to run the application shortcuts, which only works if those shortcuts are in the main Start Menu directory. If you move the shortcuts then those keys don't work. It would have made much better sense to have coded them to directly run those apps. because their location won't change. Anyway, orange basically said that that was the way it was designed and that I should report it in the Dev section of the 'O' site ;) Not got round to doing that bit yet - not even sure if I can without joining?!
Guest kingbing Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Just a suggestion, but what happens when you press numbers?
Guest fozzie Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 If you use the number keys on the keyboard, then the contact list is filtered down by the letters that are on those number keys on the SPV. BUT, what I have just found is that if you use a number key on the keyboard for the first letter of the name you are searching for, you can then continue searching by using the letter keys! i.e. if you were searching for the name 'smith' you can type '7' and then 'm' 'i' 't' & 'h' ;) So, the keyboard driver is almost right, just not for the first letter! I will update my bug report to Orange.
Guest Playdoh Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Simon I reported this a little while back and hear it's being worked on. At least when there is an update we'll be able to get it over the air which is certainly much better than returning to a service centre each time I need an upgrade! Let's hope it arrives soon! 'Doh
