Guest Wibby666 Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 OK, I've banged the O2 settings in from the Articles/Settings repository and I have a few strange things happening. 1 If some one sends me a mms O2 igores my phone and sends it to my O2 email account and sends me an alert saying i have recived a new mms go to the o2 website to view it!.... 2 If i try to send a mms it connects sends and just as the bar is about to finish "last pixel" it says send failed!!! 3 I can go on the 02 website and no other .. ie i can see www.02.co.uk but if i go to say www.google.com it sticks on finding site My phone is on the O2 online 100 tarrif and they have assured me that all services ar provisioned. WTF is going on? anybody know? Thanks SVP+Unlocked+Simfree+UK update1
Guest martin Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 You need to test the GPRS connections for both internet and WAP services. Goto internet explorer-options de-tick auto settings Make 'Select Network = WAP network' and try to access WML pages (WAP sites) and then make 'Select Network = The Internet' and access HTML pages. (Use option properties on web page to check if WML or HTML pages) If you can access both, then re-tick auto detect settings. I would make sure the above works first before digging into the MMS settings.
Guest Wibby666 Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 OK wap settings wont connect, internet settings will but only to the o2 site again ;) I've had my phone from december and never got it working on O2 Whats the next step Martin? ps thanks for all your help 8)
Guest martin Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 Have just read that your O2 is contract. Check these settings for WAP O2 WAP settings for Contract. Create proxy Description : O2 WAP proxy The Internet, WAP Network, 193.113.200.195, WAP Create GPRS connection (WAP over GPRS) Description: O2 WAP The Internet, wap.o2.co.uk, o2wap, password Create Dial Up connection (WAP over GSM) Description: O2 CSD WAP The Internet, 44, 7712, 927927, o2wap, password In data connection make WAP connection = O2 WAP (or O2 CSD WAP) In IE, tick 'Automatically detect settings'. and in case you don't have it... This information below was pasted from the O2 site which you can use to create GPRS connection for web surfing GPRS APN address : mobile.o2.co.uk Username : web Password: password DNS Servers: 193.113.200.200 and 193.113.200.201 and for E-mail smtp Email servers (POP and SMTP): mail.o2.co.uk
Guest Wibby666 Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 Ok Great...!!! Things are moving now ;) The internet browsing now works!! Cool but.. the mms still connects, sends and says failed :) Any ideas?
Guest martin Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 I take it you can access both WML pages (WAP network) and HTML pages with IE auto detect network set to on. Personally, I have never tried MMS other than orange and I am now waiting for a new SPV to be delivered after my first one broke. so can't try anything new. These are the settings for O2 found at http://www.filesaveas.com/mms.html Try and add this info to the MMS settings Goto settings- accessories - MMS setup Change to 'O2 GPRS WAP' IP address: 193.113.200.195 URL address: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 You might have to play around a bit and see if you can get it working Make sure that you have GPRS WAP working OK first. Also, does MMS need activating by O2 or is it given by default ? Good Luck (& let us know how it goes)
Guest Wibby666 Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 Cheers mate, Thanks for all the help ;) Yes I can see WML (WAP pages) and HTML pages with IE auto detect network set to on :) They are the mms settings I already have And I didnt have to get O2 to activate MMS for me (part of my tarrif) Hope your ne SPV arives soon mate, And i'll keep you posted :D
