Guest arunhallan Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 I was wondering what makes the profile stay on when u have that stupid bug... and cant software or registry tweaks be used to rectify that way??
Guest Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 It's a hardware fault, so software / reg tweaks won't do it. More info here: http://www.coolsmartphone.com/stuck-in-headset.htm
Guest midnight Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 theres a switch inside the headphone socket i beleive that sometimes gets stuck (could be wrong about that tho)
Guest Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 theres a switch inside the headphone socket i beleive that sometimes gets stuck (could be wrong about that tho) Absolutely spot on Midnight! (Although, have you ever been wrong? )
Guest arunhallan Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 but surely this switch is controlled by a software interface? couldnt in be overridden?
Guest midnight Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 except, just tried this and it works..... HKCUControlPanelProfiles select Values and you will see ActiveProfile you change this to Normal instead of HeadSet, but the sound still comes out of the headset (by the way, if the phone rings it comes out of both the headset and phones speaker but at a lower volume)
Guest mike-oh Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 I had the problem, i justed plugged and unplugged the headset rapidly. The SPV got the idea eventualy!
Guest MECX Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 yeh i did the same as mike worked fine for me
Guest arunhallan Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 yeh i know bout the switch etc... think it's a serious problem now, how easy would it be to get a replacement or get it fixed? and if they fix it, does your phone come back with everything on your phone in tact? it has come to the point where shaking the phone will change its profile, if only you could control this manually. midnight, by doing that registry tweak, are you sayin you still cant hear anything from the phone if you dont use the headset?
Guest midnight Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 dunno, try it  if it works then let me know, cos this could be a temp fix if it does
Guest superkingdave Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 kinda strange but i was continuously having this problem before update and i found the best way i got it back to normal was by blowing in the headset hole. haven had one single prob since update though
Guest foxy11 Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 mines currently at the HTC repair centre with this problem, i thought i'd fixed it but it always comes back ;), if you cant manage to fix it yourself then ring orange customer services and they will give you the HTC number to phone to get it repaired.
Guest arunhallan Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 yeh... playin round with the switch is only gona make it worse in the long term! i tried changin the profile in the registry but the actual profile settings remain...
Guest madu Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 I had 2 replacements so far - first repl. f* *d up in 2 weeks time and I had to get it replaced again. No probs so far. Worried though... PS: Both repl. were refurbished phones with new face/back covers but insides were just 'fixed'... shi'ite!
Guest arunhallan Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 so i shouldn't expect the software to be as i left it?
Guest mr_tim Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 orange sent me a replacement. it's happened again. onto handset no.3 to resolve the problem again
Guest virdirs Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Has this problem... but dropped it one day and it's been fine ever since.. shame about the scratch though ;)
Guest foxy11 Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 just recieved mine back from HTC, its my fone, cleaned up lovely, not one spec of dust anywhere and works great ;)
Guest foxy11 Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 yes, its basically out of the box style with the first UK update on. My friend sent his back around the same time, his is no longer sim free, not tried mine yet, bit busy to set my fone back up again yet ;)
