I was wondering what makes the profile stay on when u have that stupid bug... and cant software or registry tweaks be used to rectify that way??

Absolutely spot on Midnight!

(Although, have you ever been wrong? )

but surely this switch is controlled by a software interface? couldnt in be overridden?

except, just tried this and it works.....

HKCUControlPanelProfiles

select Values and you will see ActiveProfile

you change this to Normal instead of HeadSet, but the sound still comes out of the headset (by the way, if the phone rings it comes out of both the headset and phones speaker but at a lower volume)

yeh i know bout the switch etc... think it's a serious problem now, how easy would it be to get a replacement or get it fixed? and if they fix it, does your phone come back with everything on your phone in tact? it has come to the point where shaking the phone will change its profile, if only you could control this manually. midnight, by doing that registry tweak, are you sayin you still cant hear anything from the phone if you dont use the headset?

dunno, try it

if it works then let me know, cos this could be a temp fix if it does

kinda strange but i was continuously having this problem before update and i found the best way i got it back to normal was by blowing in the headset hole. haven had one single prob since update though

mines currently at the HTC repair centre with this problem, i thought i'd fixed it but it always comes back ;), if you cant manage to fix it yourself then ring orange customer services and they will give you the HTC number to phone to get it repaired.

I had 2 replacements so far - first repl. f* *d up in 2 weeks time and I had to get it replaced again. No probs so far. Worried though...

PS: Both repl. were refurbished phones with new face/back covers but insides were just 'fixed'... shi'ite!
