Have other US users updated OS?

Since my phone came to me unlocked, I am worried about doing the UK upadate to the Operating System. I don't want the phone to relock itself. Does anyone know is this is s real problem?? I would really like to get the new features and increased battery life.

I'm in the exact same boat. I'm in the states, received the phone unlocked with UK software and don't want to mess anything up... I have the following and would like to update. Any input would be appreciated... Thanks!

I currently have:

- On startup it has the picture of the Canary and says '1.35 test 1' and '1.24.00'

- In settings -> About

- Operator 1.3.5.0

- Microsoft 3.0.13059.0

- Language 1.3.5.0

- File System: 3.0.13059.0

Update on Orange's website works fine....don't worry.

That quick response may not have been too reassuring.

I received my phone with the previous user's records still on it.

I hard reset.

I upgraded to the higher ROM image.

I unlocked the phone using the old method...not the Orange OTA method.

That all worked fine.

I am alos able to lock/unlock via Orange's website OTA. SOme US users have not been able to do this sucessfully, but you can always do it the old way if it doesn't work for you.

Do any of you have problems with your phones in the U.S. not receiving calls?

Just once in a great while (maybe once every few weeks or something) I'll get a notice that I have voicemail or a missed call and the phone never rang. It happened just as frequently with the phone I used before the SPV so I am guessing it's the phone, but the service...

I just got my SPV friday and I am having nothing but problems with it. I just tried to update my software and I am getting the error invalid model id and it won't let me update the software. That isn't my biggest problem. My biggest problem is that after the phone being on for about 45 minutes i can't make nor receive calls. You haven't had any problems like that?

I can't say that I have any problems at all. I may be biased since I'm still in the honeymoon period with the phone...but it really is working very well.

Now if you'll excuse me my phone is waiting for me in the other room.

Did you update your software on Orange's site?

I've had my phone here in the US for about a month and haven't had any problems like that. I haven't yet tried to update the firware/bootloader (loaded tons of software on it though). I would like to read up some more before I do any of that and be sure I can save backups. I didn't read them, but I recall seeing posts that had headings similar to what you describe (can't make or receive calls). You may want to do searches on that and see what you find.

Hi Cornaglian,

Will the Orange Upgrade work on Smart Phones in the Philippines (it's the same HTC model but not branded as SPV)?

Will it affect the radio stack?
