Guest davy Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 Hi folks, is there any way to view what is in the file before installing it? Thanks. davy.
Guest Richie M Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 I'm afraid not Davy, but most places should provide a screen shot of the Homescreen before you download it. But it's no hassle to take it off if you don't like it, just delete the corresponding files out of IPSMApplication DataHome ;)
Guest davy Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 Richie M, Thanks for the reply. The reason I ask is that I downloaded a .hme file from http://perso.wanadoo.fr/jeremyroy/skins.htm I think it may have been the albator one, which altered the registry settings, including some of the non standard screens, ie volume, incoming call alert, information etc. I have now replaced some of these screens with the xbox and longhorn versions and they work (I had to rename some of them to match the downloaded ones (in French) then put them into the ipsm/app data/home file after deleting the originals). It seems that this may be an ideal way for non techies like me to get these non standard screens without mucking about with the registry. Hope you can understand what I'm talking about. :? Any thoughts? davy.
Guest Richie M Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 I get what you mean Davy ;) There are only two ways, alter the registry yourself, which i guess your not keen to do. Or install someone else, ie Xbox, and rename your images to match theres and copy over their images. [edit] Which is what you done :) so yeah, i guess your right  sorry i should of read you message properly the first time :D [/edit]
