This is great for hard resets or even orange care replacements...

Not sure if its been posted before but im sure a lot of people need this article so here goes...

1. Copy the MAPI folder from the IPSM folder to the storage card.

2. Open the registry editor and navigate to

HKey_Current_User/Software/Microsoft/MAPI and view the values.

3. Change the AttachPath and Property Path to point to the location of the MAPI directory on the storage card.

4. Edit the dbpath and rename cemail.vol to something else (eg cemail2.vol - but leave it in ipsm, dont copy it over to the sd card yet).

5. Turn the phone off and on again.

6. Copy the cemail.vol (NOT the renamed version) file from IPSM to somewhere on the storage card.

7. Open the registry editor to the

HKey_Current_User/Software/Microsoft/MAPI folder again and edit the dbpath to point to the new location of the cemail.vol file.

8. Phone off/on again and it should be using the storage card for sms and email. You can then delete the old MAPI directory and the cemail.vol files.

Thanks to Carl from the newsgroups for his initial findings ;)

Please post any problems or bugs, hope this helps guys n gals

There was no values listed under this directory. When I added those three values in, the cemail.vol was not created.

Help! :|

I tried renaming cemail.vol in File Manager but the phone didn't allow to do this. ;) It said the file is being use by other program. I tried again while actisync, the same thing happened. Why? :?:

I m using Xphone by the way. :)

Thanks!

Hmmm, I found this out 2 years ago with the original SPV (or maybe it was the E100 - cant remember now!). Not sure if it applies to newer modals or not? Don't have a C500/550 myself so I cant really tinker about i'm afraid
