max kbps in media player? huh?

I have tried different conversions done with the media encoder program for windows! I have noticed that some here in the forum has tried different settings too... and the max. rate for the kbps was about 70kbps

but now I have managed to get a 210kbps running or have I ?

at least the media player TELLS me that it runs on 210kbps rate when playing a video clip I have converted but does it accually use this maybe higher resolution or better sound quality to anything?

I do not think so ... anyone who has any experince with this?
