Guest m0tZ Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 hmm I've seen alot of smartphones now...(tanager, SPV) and these two: http://mobilejoe.de/cms/mobilejoe/user/ind...x.php?page_id=2 the left one called Mio and the right called Compal.....where does these two phones AND the tanager be released ????????? not in Denmark I think....but where can I by one of them and whats the different between them? And if I buy a tanager fx....would it work with danish software? sorry about these newbie questions, but Im REALLY confused, and I would love to get a chance to buy one of the other phones instead of my SPV
Guest m0tZ Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 ohh the link doesn't work....the picture was that Brody pasted on the middle of this page: http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=55137
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 The Tanager is spose to come out in Denmark in 4-6 weeks.... It's basically the same as the original SPV (if I'm not totally mistaken). It does have a somewhat slicker design, and a supposedly better screen. The other two I haven't even heard about... Personally I'm waiting to buy a new SPV untill they come with an inbuilt camera *nod self*
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 the compal is a reference design developed for microsoft to test smartphone on. it's unlikely it'll be released to the general public in its current state. It is available as part of a developers kit from microsoft. The mio is likely to be the next smartphone to be released after the tanager, probably in the philipines to begin with (as was the case with the tanager). If the mio is released i would expect to see it before september, to avoid clashes with smartphone 2003 devices.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 The mio is likely to be the next smartphone to be released after the tanager, probably in the philipines to begin with (as was the case with the tanager). I would be suprised if this was the case... I wouldn't be that suprised to see it on an Orange network first ;) P
Guest Vector Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 Is that more "inside" information Paul  ;)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 If the tanager had been out on orange by now i might have said the same... We dont all have your inside knowledge though do we Paul ;)
Guest Vector Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 Is the tanager going to be released on O or are they going to wait for the SPV2, if there is one :?:, i'm a bit confused about this :?
Guest m0tZ Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 thanks for the answers....now I know a bit more ;) damn I want a compal :)
Guest spark-x Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Does the SPVx have a longer battery life? I guess not because it is basically the same as the SPV... what a shame, its the only thing stopping me buying the phone, my 7210 seems so basic.... cheers
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 If that's the only thing holding you back .. you march RIGHT down to the store and buy it right away!!!! (and that's an order  ). I fiddle around with my spv a LOT on the go. Music, movies, internet etc etc. And just plug it into the cradle at night... no problems! You really should get it. It's a dang great phone!
Guest spark-x Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 I want to be able to listen to about 1 hour of mp3's per day, 10 text and about 10mins of phone calls, no GPRS.... Will i get two days usage out of it? ie 48 hours? I remember back in November people on this site said no more than one day? I wasn't sure if the new software had improved it that much.... well i'm on ebay looking for a 2nd hand one now :-) cheers s-x
Guest Gorskar Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Maybe. Hard to say. 2 days will probably be near the limit of what you can get with usage like you describe. To be safe its best to charge it every night. Then you can use it as much as you like, and not have to worry about the battery running out.
Guest spark-x Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 I'm still wondering.... Does the SPVx have a longer battery life over the SPV? cheers xx
Guest Firaas Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Does the SPVx have a longer battery life over the SPV? I've found that it's slightly less - but that might just be me using it more...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Firaas what version are you running on the Tanager compared to your SPV? I found that the update that came with my replacement phone was giving me crap battery life compared to the DK1 update I had before. I'm back to a better battery life now ;)
