Guest Richie M Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Try again Clint it's there ;) Nice one Malloc, the Best player on the Smartphone is Back :)
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Got it!! Time for some testing!!! ;)
Guest mike-oh Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Get back to micro turismo you!! ;) No seriously, we are all in debted to you my good man! Thank you very much indeed! Clint, have you got any new settings yet? :)
Guest malloc Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Hehe  You'll be pleased to know that the MicroTurismo project is going well, the maps are now twice bigger, the gameplay is better, and the graphics are quite good now that a graphic artist is working on them. New racing maps and cars are added each week now, and we should have a finished product byt the end of May. A new beta will probably be released in the upcoming weeks... But since the code is nearly finished, when I'm waiting for the new graphics and maps... I do some PocketDivx work  malloc
Guest Vector Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 So, how does it compare to the last version ?
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Almost got it (matrix, my benchmark) running at 24fps!!! Not quite though! But run Matrix_final_trailer.mpg from the Pockettv thread on PocketMVP and tell me what you get. ;)
Guest Chic0 Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Thanks Malloc for this new release. Definately an improvement on the previous version. ;) I used to get the egg timer showing whenever I played a clip that was over 1min long. This would make everything go all jerky for few seconds, but that doesnt happen on this version. I know this is still a beta but I have one problem: 1. When I stop a movie using the action button, then go to the menu to try and open another movie, it wont open up the screen to select another movie. Apart from that, thanks again! :) :D
Guest skimask Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Nice one mate, I thought you had stopped working on PocketMVP though? Or am I just confused?
Guest malloc Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Yes I wanted to stop working on it  I was hopping to see some coder continue the project, but it seems that nobody will if I don't ... There's a bug with the file selection window, it will work only the first time, you must quit the player to open a new file. malloc
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Good work malloc!!! But alas i can't get it to run at a constant 24fps WITH the sound.... But there are new settings in the pipe... Get a copy of 5.0.3
Guest malloc Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Great ! I must say that I didn't have time to fully play with the settings yet... *** New version beta 1b *** available for download ;) (same link) It solves the file selection window bug and the multiple instances of the player bug. malloc
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Wow - just starting to get to grips with DivX's etc and this version of Pocket MVP is fantastic - I've been showing off that Matrix trailer all day - Suck on that Mr 7650 !!! - Thanks again Malloc, SpaceCowboy p.s. any1 got Codec 5.0.3Bundle for me ( cant get it anywhere else - seems only 5.0.5 is available ?!?)
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Ah shoot!! It just recerted my phone!!! (that's the first one, not the new one)
Guest mark_hunter Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 im having problems unziping the file i get an error msg sayin Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive. Help has anyone else had this problem
Guest muude Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Ah shoot!! It just recerted my phone!!! (that's the first one, not the new one) HA HA!!
Guest mike-oh Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 The file is a cab file. you need to copy it to your phone and use smart explorer to open it. alternatively copy it to your start menu and run it from there.
Guest Palindrome Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Malloc, I'm very pleased you've chosen to carry on with PocketMVP as it's about the most used program on my phone. My thanks. But sadly I'm having the same problem as ClintEastman. On installation the message it gives to tell you the installation has failed implies the phone has been recerted, but it hasn't as Smart Explorer and Task Manager are still working fine. I downloaded the b1 version. Any ideas?
Guest davy Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 muude, it ain't funny. ;) :) Happened to me last night and took hours to sort out.  although it is nice to see it happens to others :?:
Guest mark_hunter Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 i did wot u told me Mike-ohalloran but i get another error message when i try to open it with smart explorer saying it could not be installed because it is not digitaly signed with a trusted certificate wot i have i done wrong
Guest Palindrome Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Mark, you've done nothing wrong. I would hazzard a guess that it's a problem with the CAB file.
Guest mark_hunter Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 k then ill just leave it for now but thanx oh by the way do you have any tips on encodind DVD files to play on pocketMVP!
Guest Palindrome Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 DVD to SPV involves various steps. This is basically what I do: 1. Rip the DVD to the hard drive with CladDVD: http://www.riphelp.com/downloads/claddvd.html 2. Encode the ripped DVD to DivX using FlaskMPEG (you can also do it straight from the DVD drive, but I believe this wears it out): http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/flaskmpeg.htm 3. Use virtualDub and ClintEastman's settings to resize and optimize for the SPV. If you do a search of the forum there is plenty of info on how to do this. http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/ is a great resource for converting DVD to DivX. I'm sure you'll find what you need there. Hope this helps.
