Guest dodgybob Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 The SPV takes SD/MMC cards from popular manufacturers... all cards should work properly... SD (Secure Digital) cards are usually faster and more expensive... There have also been rumours of SD cards having digital security (hence the name) to prevent piracy on MP3's and other media...? Any info on that?
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 They do, but only if you choose to use it. I have a 64MB MMC in my SPV now, filled with MP3s... Sweet! 8) P
Guest dodgybob Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 Cool.. might have to get one then
Guest dougal Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 i just ordered 2 (one for myself one for my mate) 135 ukp each from www.digitaldepot.co.uk cheapest i could find after hours of searching the contacts on the mm cards look very different to the sd contacts, also the sd cards have a write protect switch on them (how useful????)
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 135ukp each for what size? SD or MMC? P
Guest bjambean Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 I would guess he means the 256 SD cards not a bad price I would recommend sd definately! They are capable of 4* the speed of the MMC cards I have found a 128mb sd card for £53! They are £129 in PC World!!!!!!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 £53 for 125? where from? please :D
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 7DayShop.com have a 128MB SD card for £54.90: http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_in...roducts_id=8539 P
Guest Mark Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 I've just searched around too... Amazon.com have 128mb SD cards for $64.99 but they won't ship to the uk :D 7Dayshop is the cheapest i've found so far for uk, £54. I've just ordered one...
Guest Third_of_Five Posted November 29, 2002 Report Posted November 29, 2002 Dabs.com, Scan.co.uk I hear also supposed to carry them. All prices Ive seen so far are around the £50 mark for the 128mb version. Beware with 7dayshop, they take a long time to complete your order. About 10 days it will take from online order to delivery. Pretty poor in this day and age. I won't have my SD card before I have to decide if I am to send my SPV back!! They are in Guernsey which is why it takes so long.
Guest xenolith Posted November 29, 2002 Report Posted November 29, 2002 Best place to buy one is scan.co.uk 126.90 inc VAT last time I looked. Fast delivery too. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/flashmem.htm
Guest mcharnock Posted November 29, 2002 Report Posted November 29, 2002 Take a look at http://www.ebuyer.com for loads of SD options. All prices ex VAT 32Mb starting from £15.58 64Mb starting from £24.07 128Mb starting from £45.18
Guest Lizard_King Posted November 30, 2002 Report Posted November 30, 2002 Got a 256Mb SD card from www.scan.co.uk this week for 108 GBP (+VAT i think) and works a treat...its now filled with MP3s etc. Only gripe is that if left uncharged my phone would run out of charge b4 all the MP3s played..lol! That aside its still wicked tho.
Guest adamc Posted November 30, 2002 Report Posted November 30, 2002 Dabs has the 128 @ £46+Vat and beware of postage rates, dabs is only £3 putting it at £57.57 whilst scan comes out at £71.09 http://www.dabs.com/products/prod-search.a...id=010&ob=price The lexar 512Mb cards are about £220 on import anyone tried one?
Guest dickeyboy Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 I order the 64mb card from 7day Shop last Sunday (01/12) for £34.95. I also paid for the fast delivery so it arrived on Thursday morning. I have got about 25 songs on it. I converted them from 128/160kbps MP3's to 80Kbps wma files. I should say that most of the songs are average length and there are about four 8 minute longs tracks so I could have probably got a bit more on it. I have found that 64k gives reasonable quality but if you have songs with a lot of bass on them then they can distort a little.
Guest Gunslinger Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 I picked up my 128MB SD card for about £43 inc Vat and Shipping Through ebay. It takes about a week to come from the states. The seller was topdot7 and you can pay through credit/debit card via paypal and billpoint. These are the cheapest i could find. They are the SanDisk Make. :D
Guest MrSpoons Posted December 15, 2002 Report Posted December 15, 2002 bought a 128mb SD card last week for £44 including VAT http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?action=...7&GrpID=14&s=pl theres another couple of quid for delivery - but it's next day
Guest Beagle Posted December 16, 2002 Report Posted December 16, 2002 This guy ships from New York - I bought 256MB for 79.99, though price seems to have gone up to 89.99 now. P&P of 4.99. http://www.stores.ebay.co.uk/id=27437299
Guest wahblow Posted December 17, 2002 Report Posted December 17, 2002 do you need to copy any files over when you swap SD cards, also do you need to power off first.
Guest Rog Posted December 17, 2002 Report Posted December 17, 2002 do you need to copy any files over when you swap SD cards? Depends...Do you have files you need on it? IE have you installed applications to your card? If so you'll need to copy them (and the file structure they are in) to retain functionality. also do you need to power off first? Nope = hot pluggable! :D
Guest Will Posted December 17, 2002 Report Posted December 17, 2002 just ordered a 128mb from http://www.expansys.com few pennies over £50, 4 quid p&p... now the waiting for it to arrive! Will
Guest tinclunge Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Just got my 128meg sd card today from ebuyer only cost £40 + vat + delivery . not bad i think :D
Guest madu Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Surely transfer via the cradle is so f***g slow!!! I'd like to get that 256MB + PC card writer (for mostly all memcards) from valuemedia. Pretty sure it's been mentioned, but can't be bothered to check - for those of you who can't be bothered either, there you go: http://www.valuemedia.co.uk/secure_digital.htm
Guest BigLewiD Posted December 19, 2002 Report Posted December 19, 2002 On the memory cards can you store pictures and ringtones to use on the phone itself? and if so, how do you use them? How do you store and use mp3's? can someone please help me? Thanks
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Shame they don't do GPRS yet however... P
