Split Long SMS's...

Whenever I sent an SMS message that exceeds the 160 character limit (not that we'd know not having a counter, but that's another story) all my friends have reported that the first half of the message arrives, with a note about it being truncated, and then AGES later, they get the second half.

This never happened with my T68, and at least the recipient got a useful note to say the second half is on the way.

Is this a problem with mine or has anyone else noticed it ?

I've just tried it from mine.

Part 2/2 arrived within seconds.

Five minutes later and part 1 hasn't arrived yet!

Do you think this is worthy of going into the bug's section ???

The phone must be doing something because the delay between pressing send and the "Message Sent" dialog appearing is longer when you send a split message.

My old T68 worked flawlessly and concatenated the messages upon receipt presenting you with one long one... (so to speak!)

Other bits I still cant get my head round:-

* The +44 prefix thing... [shadow=red:faab627217]HOW[/shadow:faab627217] basic is this an oversight ?!

* Why it doesnt go back to home screen when I "put the phone down"

* The backlight thing-a-me gig coming on at all the wrong moments

* Why it takes my phone almost five seconds between the callers name

appearing on screen and the ring tone appearing

* The absolutely cruddy way the alarm clock is handled

* Where is Bluetooth? My poor little Motorola baby headset is now

resigned to the car glovebox. Will she ever see the light of day again ?

* Why you have to "finish" everything 100% by pressing the back key

until you get sore thumbs unless it puts you back in places you didnt

expect to be...

* Why is there a differentiation between Mobile and SMS ? Or am I

missing something wonderful simplistic here ?

Do you mean on your contacts? Entering a mobile number will automatically give it an equivalent sms number.

Why does the phone do this? Well it depends on whether you want to call them (mobile), or text them (sms). Type the name (or number) and a list of matching contacts comes up. Selecting mobile causes the phone to call them up. Selecting SMS causes a new message to be created (with a choice of Message or MMS).
