Guest gradiation Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 I belive it's milestone 5 , meaning it's the 5th version (ie the most reasent) so Richie's should look most like the real thing
Guest meaks Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Is longhorn gonna be a new windows os? If so when will it be released?
Guest Richie M Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 I belive it's milestone 5 , meaning it's the 5th version (ie the most reasent) so Richie's should look most like the real thing Oi my first one looked like the reall thing as well ;) But that was based on M4 (build 4008) where as Milestone 5 (M5) is build 4015. And yes Meaks it is the new Windows OS due for about 2005 i believe , it's still in Alpha ATM so not even Beta
Guest meaks Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 ah right cheers - I wont be getting excited about it anytime soon then
Guest gradiation Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Sorry Richie, I know your m4 looks like windows longhorn, but your M5 should look more like the final release of Longhorn, unless they decide to totally redesign it ;)
Guest Vector Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 I've downloaded a sidebar thingy and a M5 theme and now my desktop looks exactly like the real thing, do you want me to post a pic of it  :?:
Guest gradiation Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 yea, i'd like to see it. Think i've seen the sidebar thing somehwere, but didn't DL it.
Guest Dicksie Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 There are some screenshots of 4015 on www.neowin.net and I think there is some on www.winbeta.org If you want some screenshots of particular areas of 4015 (such as the control panel etc) then give me a shout and I will take them for you.
Guest Chic0 Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Nice one Richie M. Like the way you added all the extra screens into the cab as well. Cant wait for M5! ;)

Guest Vector Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 And i still have a completely stable OS running, it just looks identical to the real thing ;)
Guest Zim Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 M5 hmmmm........ sounds interesting, hope the new file system will be on it! oooohh cant wait. M4 was not bad lovely tweeks but nothing much to write home about but enjoyed it none the less. back to xp though with the longhorn feel. David try getting icon packager and load the longhorn icons on the xp theme! looks great and gives it that extra feel of something different. thinking bout moving to something something more stable Win2003 Standard server sounds good.... ZIma
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Looks very much like my genuine 4015 ;) Hope its a lot faster than the real thing :) If you are havin probs stop the WinFS service, that should help alot (a must if it's a VM). :D Runs great with WinFS running for me!! ;)
Guest Richie M Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 I still cant believe M5 is still only an Alpha, it's more stable and more functional than some Betas i've used ;)
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 I still cant believe M5 is still only an Alpha, it's more stable and more functional than some Betas i've used :) Bugger it being more stable than Betas, it's more stable than WindowsME!!! ;)
Guest badlad Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 After hijaking a thread elsewhere i found this one ... but i still dont see a link for downloading this theme for my windows xp machine - anyone care to point me in the right direction please ;)
Guest Vector Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 www.themexp.org Do a search for longhorn
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Is it any more stable than 4008? Not really played to much with it yet.... But i have had Explorer.exe go down on me (oh er) a couple of times, but that was when i was messing about with the search function in the sidebar, and we all know that depends on WinFS.... I will report back when i have had more of a fiddle (Ooo Matron)...
Guest Richie M Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Is it any more stable than 4008? Oh yes David, i havent had it crash once; yet ;)
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Out of interest try a search on the sidebar...
