Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Hopefully somebody will be able to shead some light on this for me.... All of the sms messages I had stored on my spv have vanished without a trace. The only thing I've done recently is format my PC's hard drive, could the messages have somehow been erased when I reinsatlled activesync and connected the phone? I'd like the messages back because there were some 'nice' ones in there! If anybody can offer any explenation please let me know. Cheers.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Moved to Help and Advice. Have any other messages gone missing? (E-mail, trash, sent items etc)
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Yup, everything's gone. All the folders are empty.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Sounds like your cemail.vol file (in IPSM) has been nuked...sure you've not touched anything in that directory?
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Not been messing with my SPV in ages, i've been on holiday so i've not had to oppotunity to fiddle. I know all the messages were there a couple of days ago, and all i've done since is connect it to my freshly formated PC.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 What files do you have in IPSM? (i wouldn't keep your hopes up btw, this sounds fairly terminal...) How many messages-ish did you have in total btw?
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Application Data ConnMgr MAPI My Documents Program Files Windows cemale.vol GCounterFile.mmf mxip_initdb.vol mxip_lang.vol
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 And how many messages did you have? (wondering if there might be some kind of limit...?)
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 There wasn't that many in the inbox, say 20ish. There was probally a good sized chunk in 'deleted items' and 'sent items'. I hadn't cleaned them out in a while. Say 100 in each.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 I've had way more than that before. I've no idea other than that i'm afraid. Might want to take it to the NG's and see if an MS bod can offer any suggestions?
Guest Will Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Not been messing with my SPV in ages, i've been on holiday so i've not had to oppotunity to fiddle. did the spv get very low on battery. if so things do go 'missing'? Will
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Nope - battery was fine. I know i'm going to be mocked for this but.... Who are the "NG's"?
Guest Will Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 NG = Newsgroups. simple!! ;) Will
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Hehe, the News Groups. See the microsoft.public.smartphone forum near the bottom of the index page.
