Back button that works in EVERY instance.

would be nice if the back button worked whatever app / part of app you are in. Not sometimes having to use the back button, sometimes having to go into menu and goto cancel or using the done key

Even apps forming part of the OS don't have a consistent use of the back button.

Agreed. Im talking about the basic programs installed not other apps. (yet! :D )
