Guest afdoughty Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I have over 1,500 contacts in Outlook sync'ing to my Smartphone. On my smartphone I can search for a contact by their name. But if I can only remember the company name but can't remember the person's name of the person, I am unable to find the contact. How do I get my smartphone to search for contacts by searching for text "XYZ" in all contact data, not just the name field? :?: Andrew
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I don't think you can, thhe only option you have is to use the filter option so you can divide your contacts into business, misc or personal and do a search for contacts that way.
Guest darrelle Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 Currently the SPV will only run it's search through the field marked as 'file as' in Outlook so there could be scope for a little App here if someone wants to write one. I personally add an extra bit on the important ones i.e. "name (company)" etc even though you have a separate company field, then select this in file as and it will find the company or the name when you search, however I have 300 contacts so your going to be busy with 1500 !!! ;) There are some freebie apps I beleive that allow some global changes on the PC side (I don't have them but have hear5d of them), you may be able to do a global reformat and then re-sync. If not, good luck with the typing!! :x Darrell
Guest madu Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 I think you can set the files as to be in "Last, First (company)" format. All that in PC Outlook settings...
