Tanager...SPVx..whats it gonna be and when?

Okay, so the Tanager is already out in some places in this world.. is it more powerful than the SPV? The SPVx is the same thing as the Tanager. The SPVx (Tanager?) will be released in the UK & US soon? But it is going to have a faster processor? Does the Tanager out now have a faster processor?

Can someone clear up for me when the SPVx or Tanager will (estimate) be released in the UK and will it have a faster processor?

thanks

The Tanager, also known as the SPVx or SPV e100, has exactly the same hardware specifications as the SPV. The only differences being a T68i-esque joystick in place of the SPV's d-pad and a brighter screen (i reckon because the plastic shield is closer to the TFT display).

Both handsets are produced by a company called HTC (who also developed the o2 xda and Compaq/HP iPaq), and the only differences are cosmetic.

I have no idea whatsoever of the state of 2.5G rollout in the states, however the Tanager ~should~ be released here in Europe in the next month or so, assuming deadlines/rumours are kept/true.

The SPVx will not be available in UK... but a new version of SPV with integrated camera is planned for September by Orange.

Before anyone else starts about if the SPVx will be will not be released

in the UK lets just wait and see and leave it at that.

Man, will the US ever get up to speed with everyone else in the world when it comes to mobiles? We are way behind... Thank goodness for Ebay and everyone on this forum!

Happy USA SPV owner.

Do you know how much you'll be selling them for Aiwapro :?:

The screen is a different technology on the Tanager, although the plastic shield is also closer.

When Alien Wireless start selling them, Plus members will of course benefit from 10% off ;)

Woohoo U.S. SPV users unite! :- D

Woa 10% off a Tanager? That would just about pay for the Plus membership, eh? I think i just might have to sign up!

aiwapro, do you know how much you'll be selling them for? Are you shipping them from the US?

finally, i could have sworn someone mentioned the SPVx when released in Europe was going to have an updated processor... anyone remember hearing this?

aiwapro, i just saw you are selling the SPV for $650 :? I could only imagine how much the SPVx will cost ;)

wouldn't it be cheaper to buy the development kit for the spv? or even buy a contract spv and blow the contract? (or give it to me!)

But i would be interested in price of tanager when available, and all outlets are good, given competitive forces ;)

The SPVx in Tanager form will NOT have a faster CPU, for the last time it has the same insides as the SPV, only differnce apparently being a better display. That's it, nothing else.

There are 3 or 4 SmartPhone handsets in development with 200mhz CPU's though.

I still have 8 months left of my spv contract, and by the time its finished I'm hoping to be able to get the Asus phone ;)

Of course I would happily trade in my SPV for a tanager, but not at a large cost. Of course when I win the competition I wont have to worry about that cost :)

Sounds about right. I think you'll find that that's the kind of spec's you're going to get on all SP2003 phone.

That ASUS will be my next phone I think ;) (Unless something better comes along of course)

Edit: No come to think of it the tanager I win from the competition will be my next phone, maybe I'll get the ASUS as the one after that :)
