ACTIVE SYNC USB CONNECTION

I am having a nightmare trying to update the software onto my SPV. I was having problems installing Active Sync 3.6 onto my desktop (Windows 98) and when I finally managed to do it I cannot establish a connection between the cradle and the desktop.

In the initial stages of Active Sync I have connected the USB to the computer but it comes up with the message 'No Device was Detected'

Can someone help me before I go insane??

Had you plugged the phone into the cradle previously (before installing ActiveSync)?

Is your phone plugged in correctly when trying to connect to ActiveSync?

You do not need any further drivers, only ActiveSync...

The phone had been plugged into the cradle a few times prior to installing Active Sync.

As for the phone being plugged in correctly I have the cradle plugged into the mains and the phone in the cradle which i think is right??

If this is when the cradle was also plugged into the PC then this is

your problem,

You need to unplug the cradle and uninstall activsync, then start from

scratch by installing Activsync first before plugging the cradle in.
