Guest captainflimflam Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Hi Folks. I'm currently working out what to put on my website (just got ADSL ;)) after putting the cool (grovel grovel) :) trailers that "ClintEastman" sampled onto my SPV I'm thinking of a SPV scaled down version of things for a mirror to my site (again don't get too excited I've done nought yet lad!) :D . Would any of you guys be interested in this on a website?? I guess it would work like a mini/SPVised apple(trailers).com.
Guest siu99spj Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Seems quite cool, but what about legality? Some companies can get annoyed even if you are just providing extra, free advertising.

Guest Palindrome Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 The only problem with trailers is their size. It may take an age to download them with the spv. What's the current average download speed of GPRS? Seems like 1KB/s (dunno, just feels like that). Considering streaming radio buffers like a crazed mofo I'm not hopeful. The trailers would have to be very small in order not to be a cause of peeps dying of old age . But if it could be done practically it would be a good idea. ;)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I would download them to the pc first then to phone, that would get my vote ;)
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I think Chris Edwards has the same idea!! I just sold my Pocket PC and have an SPV on the way... Considering this, I'd like to get some smartphone clips on PocketMatrix.com. I can give anyone FTP access if they'd like to host their video's on our PocketMatrix.com server. I've already had an offer by the guru of smartphone video himself (ClintEastman), so I'll most likely get his clips up pretty soon. http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=57757

Guest captainflimflam Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 Well size wise I was thinking the size of the files that you did Mr ClintEastman Sir (t3, x2 and matrix trailer) would that be too hopeful in terms of size??? I think I might have a play this weekend as I got a nice version if Narc trailer using "ClintEastman" Virtual Dub settings.
Guest captainflimflam Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 No offence to pocket movies but I couldn't find any new movie trailers on their site.......is that the legal problem in effect?
Guest captainflimflam Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 Is this really the true transfer speed of the SPV :?: Modem max. data rate: 56k modems are capable of receiving data at speeds up to 56 kbps. However, due to FCC rules that restrict power output, maximum download speeds are limited to about 53 kbps. Data transmitting speeds are limited to 33.6 kbps. Actual speeds depend on many factors and are often less than the maximum possible.
