Guest HungrySPV Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 Hi all, I think this is a bug but please do correct me if I am wrong. When you use the recorder it seems to shut its self off after a while if there is no other activity on the phone even if the recorder is running. Also if you have the backscreen auto shut off it will continue for a bit and then it just stops ! I was trying to record a lecture this week and when I checked it a few times it had always stopped when left recording. It happily records for 1 minute and then the screen shuts off to save battery life, and then after a certain amount of time it just stops recording. The average size of the recording seems to be 472 KB on the phone in the notes folder, and roughly 5 minutes length. Okay its annoying enough that you can't record directly to the storage card but surely there is an option to change the auto shutoff time for the recorder even if the screen light goes off or is this a bug ?? Guest midnight Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 i believe (and i could be wrong about this) that your phone is running out of memory. Now, the file is 472kb cos it is compressed, but while it is recording it is in an uncompressed state, so, it will record for so long, run out of memory, stop the recording, compress and then save the file. maybe someone knows better???? i think the phone recorder was made for quick personal notes, not full lectures ;)
Guest HungrySPV Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 I think it could also be a backlight related bug which causes it to turn of the recorder ? But its either a bug or very very badly implemented feature ! But hey if you have the card space why should you not be able to use the recorder for more than 5 minutes !!! Do any of you Register wizards know where this setting is ?? Paul - Any suggestions on this ?
