Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 $19.99?? for chess  looks like Orneta all the way for $4.44 such a hard decision ;)
Guest Gorskar Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 Indeed. That new version looks nicer, but $19.99    At $4.44 I'm happy with Orneta chess. 8)
Guest midnight Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 errr, actually they look identical (the chess peices that is), now who ripped off who???? or are these peices on the net in the public domain (that would explain a lot)
Guest Gorskar Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 Not quite identical: http://www.chessgenius.com/images/SP_sml.gif> http://orneta.com/chess4smartphone/chess1.gif> But the ChessGenius pieces are are not worth an extra $15.55 in my book!
Guest simon11 Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 As Orneta chess is not yet signed and I have not unlocked my phone. I have purchased ChessGenius. This looks great to me. It has plenty of features and also has a full sized board option. I have only just downloaded it and I have not played a game yet. I think the price is still good value for a chess game that will give years of pleasure. Unlike some silly shoot em up that gets played a couple of times. The graphics although 2D look great. I will try Orneta as well when it is signed to compare. Why not at $4.00
Guest simon11 Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 I have just played a few games on the first few Easy levels. Unlike some chess games it is suitable for beginners as it does make odd mistakes to give the player a chance. I am not sure how usefull the chess Tutor is as it allowed me to give away several pawns before warning that I had put my queen in danger. It does seem to warn of major errors though. The hint mode will also be usefull to beginners. I used to play a lot of chess but I have not played for about ten years. I beat it easy on level 0. On level 1 I lost trying to have a quick game but won when thinking for a while. I am really going to enjoy this game. It will take a far better player than me to tell you how usefull the Hard levels are though. I will be playing this a lot. Great!!!
