Guest bosshogg Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 This is probably as newbie as you can get ;) but I've just got back from the shop with my new spv, plugged it into the cradle, plugged in the charger. The little light comes on which I assume means it's charging, but when I turn the phone on, all I get is a picture of a sunset with the orange logo. Is this normal when the battery isn't charged? Does the battery need to be charged before the phone can be used in the cradle? thanks!
Guest siu99spj Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 Probably good indication that your SIM hasn't been activated. This is the 'leave it overnight' theory. Try again later this afternoon and you might have a slightly more usable phone. Meanwhile, read the guides on updating your SPV (if it needs it) and decerting so you're ready to do such when it works.
Guest bosshogg Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 thanks, will do. It's kind of weird though, can't even turn it off once it's on... :?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 all I get is a picture of a sunset with the orange logo. Is this normal when the battery isn't charged? This is not normal and could indicate that the OS is not loading properly, normal solution is to perform a hard reset but if that does not work a return to Orange would be in order. Being stuck on the sunset screen is a known problem. As you have only just bought the phone, I would take it back to the shop and have it changed. Let us know how you get on.
Guest bosshogg Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 Yep, spoke to 150 a couple of times last night, they pretty quickly decided it was a handset problem so got it replaced this morning. Now I have the coolest phone in the office... ;) thanks for all the replies...
