Guest Dave DR Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 Is there anything out there? I would find this really useful when i am on site... cheers!
Guest watek Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 You could try inline tools like www.samspade.org
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 You could use Telnet and ping from there?
Guest youngerpants Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 WOW, how useful is that, another saved to my phone favorites Works on the SPV (just tested). Although they dont have a straight ping on there, they have traceroute, which will still tell you if an IP/ DNS is up... and its very fast too Good find!
Guest yves Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 I'm working on a ping for smartphones, stay tuned
Guest thefda Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 I'm working on a ping for smartphones, stay tuned my hero! i need this
Guest yves Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 well. I wonder if I should release it as freeware or charge something for my development work... tell me why I should give it away for free and if you got good resons, I'll do.
Guest Richie M Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 well. I wonder if I should release it as freeware or charge something for my development work... tell me why I should give it away for free and if you got good resons, I'll do. Cos then you can enter it into MoDacoPrize for Innovation 2003 and be in with a chance to win £500
Guest NederSoren Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 And why not just share a rather simple program like this, instead of charging for it? Who's is gunna pay up for something like this?
Guest yves Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 good point. I'd be willing to pay like 1£ or so for it, so I can't force you to do so. I know how much work it was,it's more than 1£ worth, but who cares. I'll make it install-ready and release it next week, exclusively for you here. regards yves
Guest yves Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 I decided to put up the running BETA tonight. Here it is! it's still buggy and it's not complete, but hey, I'll do that next week, ok? for those who'd like to have it now, get it. but I do not promise anything, it's working on my emulator and that's it. I'll fix the dialog-ctrl-issue etc, but I go away this weekend so you'll have to wait until next week. if you got any comments, feel free to contact me via PM or e-mail. once again, it's a BETA so don't expect a perfect product. it'll be more perfect next week  here's the updated version: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...start=15#330214

NOT AT ALL!
Guest yves Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 strange. well, I'll see that it runns on SP 2003 soon, the numbering-issue will also be fixed soon. navigation is problematic, I know, that's why it's still beta. as I menationed in the About-screen. this will be fixed within the next week for sure. I gave this version to a friend who tested it with a GPRS connection on a SPV classic and it worked pretty well. I used to test the passrtrough-connection of the emulation device, but of course, this is not a reliable proof. thank you for your responses. I'll seriously work them out as soon as I can. regards yves

I just tested it on smartphone 2002 with GPRS and it wokrs!!! now I am writing news item about it for msmobiles - it will be published soon!!! GOOD WORK! (JUST Make it working on smartphone 2003 please!)
Guest yves Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 :-D well msmobiles. Oh, I saw you already published the news. well thank you very much, it's good to see such an enthusiasm :-) thanks for the BETAt-notice in your article. I suppose I can work out the final release 1.0 next week, so probably on thursday it'll be out and running without the navigation issues and with some more functionalities. Also I'll see that I can release the 2003 version until then. I'll also made up a webpage specially for this tool with support and requet and all stuff noone needs but everyone expects to find. I'll also make spPING french and german so it'll be kinda multilingual. kindly regards Yves
Guest www.msmobiles.com Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 :-D well msmobiles. please do not post it yet on news, but when the FINAL is released. I suppose I can work it out next week, so probably on thursday it'll be out and running without the navigation issues and with some more functionalities. Also I'll see that I can release the 2003 version until then. kindly regards Yves it is too good not to post it!!! it is posted already here. the most important thing is that it works (as tested with myself over GPRS): ... so the main problem is, that it is not working in smartphone2003.
Guest yves Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 :-D it feels soooo good to hear that someone likes my work. really, propably you can´t imagine that. as I said, I´ll work these issues out next week and I´ll also release a 2003 version. Question: do you get any error messages or just timeouts? and: do you think I´m allowed to enter the £500 Inovation-Contest? regards Yves

Guest Bunchie Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Yep works really nicely  Thanks for this it will be very useful!
Guest yves Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 well but I thought it might have a navigation-issue. you can not go upwards when you scrolled once the Listview. that's why I made the Clear-menuitem. but I wanted to work this out next week. or isn't this necessary? this was the bug I had on my emulating device. yes, I'll get the Smartphone2003 devtools and see if I get it running there. but this might take some time tough :-/
Guest yves Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 so, here's the version 0.9 ! As I've seen, the ARM-cab was downloaded 66 times and the executeable 58 times, therefore I decided to add both files again here. I fixed the control-issues and it's faster now. You can use this tool to PING any given hostname or IP. Enter any TTL between 1 and 999, any waiting-interval between 1 and 9999 and do from 1 up to 99 pings in series. This program is Freeware. Feel free to send any comments, questions and suggestions to Yves Jeanrenaud, [email protected] Version History? Well, there are now some issues fixed that occured in the BETA release, but I'm still not happy with it. I'm thinking about a "Saving to a textfile" function and currently only Smartphone2002 is supported. it's still not finished, but it's nearly completely working now. As I wrote, I want a "save" function and I want to make it multilingual soon. Also, I'd need to make it 2003-compliant. Feel free to PN me or send me e-mail, ok? Thanks and enjoy Yves
Guest yves Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 I just made up an Article at my Homesite. I'll post the actual version from now on always to that site over HERE. So I'd ask all of you to change your links, bookmarks and whatever to the Address of spPING. Thank you very much.
