Can not install NON certified software

Hi Guys,

I have a strange problem. I unlocked my phone so I could install uncertified software on my SPV. This worked great until today. I couldn't install uncertified software any more but certified software (for instance from the SD card that came with my SPV) works normal.

I did a hard reset but I still had the same problem. Then I unlocked my pnone again and I got the msg that my phone was unlocked. I still can't install NON certified software ;). Even if i copy the .cab file to my SPV and start it from there it doesn't work.

What happens is the following: when the .cab file is started (either when I start it from the SPV or it starts after copying from my PC) it says that the program is beging installed and I see the round colored thing running. Right after that my SPV should ask me where I want to install the software but instead it goes back to the today screen  .

I already checked the check the IPSMWindowsAppMgrInstall dir, emptied it then switched off and reboot. It doesn't help.

Any1 has any idea how I can solve this? :) :D Thanks a lot guys!

I think OTA, seeing as he mentioned the unlock message.

Check how much space you have left in your IPSM folder. This behaviour could be caused by some failed installs which havnt been cleared out properly. I forget where these files lurk, but if you have all explorer or smart explorer then look in the IPSMFiles to be deleted amd IPSMMAPI folders for rouge large files using up all the space.

Welcome to the site ;)

As you have already checked the IPSMWindowsAppMgrInstall and said it is empty that would only be

a problem if you could not install any software not just non-certed ones.

You have now done a hard reset and decerted again it sounds like the decert process did not

work properly I would suggest you try again and also try doing it using Will's decert app (found in Articles section).

One thing you did not mention is that when you could no longer install non-certed apps did the

ones you already have installed still work?

Guys, thanks for the answers.

The thing is that yesterday I installed some stuff without problems. Then suddenly I could not install any NON certified software any more. Very strange . I decertified my phone a couple of weeks ago and it worked fine! After I got the problem the software that was not certified but was installed worked fine! It's just the install problem ;).

After I tried some thing I did a hard reset to make sure I could start the process all over again and free the memory. Decertified the phone again trough the orange dev. site but I kept the same problem.

It's strange because I got the message that my phone was unlocked.

Can I use the app? I live in Amsterdam (Holland) so I have a Dutch SVP :). Isn't it true that that app only works for UK SPV's ?

This problem has been reported before and a hard reset fixed it

( I can't remember who it was off hand sorry)

Try the app it should work but only by having a go will confirm it.

After the hard reset I kept the problem. That's why I decertified my phone again but it did not help.

I'll give the app a go then...

If you did a hard reset, it would make your phone revert to "out of the box" settings

so it would be certified again and you would have had to reinstall all your apps contacts etc.

So you would not have seen the problem again unless you had tried and decerted again.

Please do not get offended but I have to ask, do you know how to do a hard reset?

as it sounds like that has not been done :?

I'm never offended :). No seriously, I know how to hard reset a SPV (record button pressed + power button.. then the action button, etc.). I run a website (www.pocketpc-club.nl) so i'm truly in2 mobile devices ;).

Damn this problem! It's the worse i've had with my mobile stuff so far.

Strange as you say "erase IPSM then says passed etc" ;)

As you now have a clean phone after the reset, and the Orange decert did not work,

good luck with the decert app and let us know how it goes.

Strange as a hard reset should have worked.

Thanks awarner, I will try that app tonight. Gotta pick up the keys to my new house right now :) :D.

The strange thing is that I get the msg that my phone is unlocked. It's truly bizar!

I am having the same problems. I used the orange site to unlock my phone and received a message telling me that it had worked. I have tried installing the nes emulator but it just says that it is not a certified windows prog.

Also since then every time i take a picture, if i press select it just adds it straight to the list with a red cross next to it!

Any ideas?

Try removing then reinseting your storage card is sound like it's not reading it correctly (for the picture problem)

Now as for the nes emulator problem, try installing other uncertified apps like Smart Explorer and see what

happens as it sounds like the unlock procedure did not work properly :?
