Please some one help.

I have tried literally everything (calling up Vodafone to retrieve the settings) and (doing s**t loads of flippin resets) but GPRS does not seem to work. Where things get hazy is the it used to work fine with the following settings but all of a sudden I get a message when trying to connect to GPRS "Unable to make call"

The settings that I have for GPRS for Vodafone UK are as follows and once again, it used to work fine and all of a sudden it stopped.

Connects to "The Internet"

Access Point "Internet"

User name "web"

Password "web"

Primary D.N.S "158.43.240.4"

Secondary D.N.S "158.43.240.4"

IP Address "212.183.137.012"

Please help if you could. I am getting desperate ;) (for help!!). Any replies will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

I've filled in the gaps for vodaphone settings using the standard setup for SPV. As usual, I've never tried it. Might help ?

Create GPRS connection. (internet)

Description: Voda web GPRS

Connects to: The Internet

Access point: internet

User name: web

Password: web

Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0

Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0

IP address: (blank)

Create proxy connection

Description: Voda WAP proxy

Connects from: The Internet

Connects to: WAP network

Proxy (name:port): 212.183.137.012

Type: WAP

Username: blank

Password: blank

Create GPRS connection. (WAP)

Description: Voda WAP GPRS

Connects to: The Internet

Access point: wap.vodaphone.co.uk

User name: [email protected]

Password: user

Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0

Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0

IP address: (blank)

Create Dial Up WAP Connection

Description: Voda WAP CSD

Connects to: The Internet

Country code: 44

Dialling code: 7836

Phone number: 900808

Username: [email protected]

Password: user

Domain: (blank)

In data connections

Internet Connection: Voda web GPRS

WAP connection: Voda WAP GPRS (or Voda WAP CSD)

In Internet Explorer, goto connections and tick 'Automatically detect settings'

WAP home address is http://wap:1999/vodaphone.wml

If this fails then it might be worth checking that Vodaphone don't have any GPRS faults.

Its working (KIND OF) (I can access HTML and WML sites) but they are taking rather long to load up. All of a sudden it started saying the same thing again "Error, Unable to place call". Did a soft-reset and now its working again.

You can still get 'unable to place call' and 'connection fails' when the signals not too good (bit errors). The signal inside my house on Orange is OK but on O2 its very poor and its 50/50 whether its gonna connect or not.

When you did a reset it may have established on a better cell.

I'll post the vodaphone settings now I know they work. Cheers

I don't think you get GPRS internet for web pages on O2 PAYG but you can use messenger on a GSM dial-up connection instead.

Create proxy

Description : O2 WAP proxy

The Internet, WAP Network, 193.113.200.195, WAP

Create GPRS connection (WAP over GPRS)

Description: O2 WAP

The Internet, payandgo.o2.co.uk, payandgo, password

Create Dial Up connection (WAP over GSM)

Description: O2 CSD WAP

The Internet, 44, 7712, 927927, o2wap, password

In data connection

Internet connection= O2 CSD (used for messenger & HTML pages)

WAP connection = O2 CSD or O2 WAP (used for WML pages)

Goto Internet explorer, options-connections and tick 'Auto detect settings'
