Thinking of getting an XBox! Is it worth it? and where is it the cheapest?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is dfinetly worth it, there are a good line up of games being released this year and the beggining of next year GTA will be available for Xbox, yay ;)

Well I've got a Ps2 and the only reason I would want to get an x-box is for online gaming. But then again Ive got a pc :? Halo and splinter cell look like the only must have games for the x-box and splinter cell is now multi-format and I've heard rumours at the very least that halo is coming to pc. I suppose X-box is slightly cooler though ;)

www.play.com.

XBox, Splinter Cell and some other game for 170 quid (assuming the deliver internationally).

If i get the XBox from amazon.com for £115 plus splinter cell from play.com for £25, a total of £140. Is this good?

Ghost Recon any good?

Sounds pretty good, don't reckon you'll beat that by much anywhere!!

Ghost Recon is cool especially if you get Live and play online ;)

Funny but true: The headset from Xbox live works on SPV and Tanager....

Just another reason to get one ;-)

Is this a rumour?? I hope so - I h8 you scummy X-Box owners. GTA is ours' lol !!!

2 b honest m8 the X-box is graphically superior to any console but the reason why I bought the PS2 was the line up of games are by far the best - and will be until 2006 until we see the launch of the "Next Generation" consoles.

Yep, GTA is coming to XBOX and cube :)

Rockstar games has a contract with Sony but that ends the beggining of next year so they are expected to make GTA 3 and GTA vice city for XBOX and Cube :D

Sorry all u PS2ers  (altough i have a PS2 aswell ;) )

x box does have some good games though gotham and unreal championship is quality. cant wait for halo two. i find the x box controller excellent aswell and when i use my flat mates ps2 controller it feels flimsy not to mention the retro snes controller

Got the xbox up and running. After a half hours playing sega gt, the xbox crashed just before the start of a race. This was earlier on, then just now it done it again, also at the begining of one of the races.

I was thinking whether or not the xbox is dodgy or the game is dodgy. Came to the conclusion that it is the game as it happens at the beginning of races.

Do you guys agree? or should i get the xbox changed?

Does the xbox tend to crash?

Does the xbox tend to crash?

It's Microsoft and runs Windows CE. Need I say more

I've never seen one crash, but then I've only played Halo.

My Xbox has never crashed but it might well be that the disc is faulty or damaged, Did you get a demo disc with the Xbox ?, if so try that and see what happens

I work in a games shop and our demo xbox never crashes. It's was one of the 1st ones in the country and getting on a bit now, since it's been running about 8 hours a day 6 days a week for over a year.

But our ps2 crashes all the time. weird.

Xbox - Windows CE Based

SPV - Windows CE Based.

Weird.

With the PS2 you get an extra level on Splinter Cell, with extra in-game footage... you also don'y need to get your floor re-enforced to take the weight of the HUGE X-Box!!! Hopefully if Halo does come to the PS2 we will get 10 new levels ;) Viva PS2...long live SONY!!!

whats the new level for splinter cell do? that was one of the best games i have played and i was sad when i finished it

Guest Ras

On the PS2 there is a new level called Power Plant...I agree that it is an awsome game!! Read a few PS2 reviews and apparently the earlier levels on the PS2 have been modified so as not to "trip people up too soon"!!! Move furniture and exits apparently. Someone speculated that XBOX peeps may be able to download this new level, but on the official SplinterCell website it remains "exclusive to PS2". Enjoy

yeah i did spend about a week on the defense ministry, not being able to shoot people was an arse and the bodies kept getting discovered, but overall i dont think it was too hard since i am usually rubbish at games and i managed to complete it ;)

I wasn't going on about the x-box - I was talking about the ps2. I don't even own an x-box! (or ps2/gamecube)

Halo isn't just a decent game - its fantastic, and I'm sure it would be no matter which format it was released on...

Anothe rfew games I've got a hold of recently are Primal and Silent Hill 3....oh the joys of a chipped PS2... ;)

Surely the best reason for buying an X-Box is to never play games on it and immediately convert it to run Linux (ideally after soldering in an extra 64MB of memory) and run it as a Web server or something (like Paul does).

That way get a Linux box for virtually nothing and the best bit is that MS has helped you buy it by subsiding the hardware! :-D
