I got a letter from orange this morning telling me that my tariff is changing. Im on the O2 business First tariff @ £13.99 per month which has Free Care. Now im being told that my free care will cease next month & if i want it i will have to pay for it monthly  My call charges are also going up slightly. Isnt this breaking the contract i signed up for & if so can i come out of it if i want ? Im thinking of changing onto another tariff if this is the case

Yep you can choose to terminate your contract with 30 days' notice if there is a change in the price you are paying them.

I'm not sure if this relates to JUST monthly fees, but as care costs another £5, then it's gone up by at least £5/mo.

£5 a month isn't a particularly good price for insurance. I was looking at a deal a few days back (at unimobiles.com, I think) where the "signup" price is £10, and £3.45 a month thereafter. Their deal covers things that Orange Care excludes, too... And there's a "buy a year at a time" deal for £51.40 - £8.60 than a year's Orange "Care". That includes the cost of any unauthorised calls too, (up to £1000) which I don't think "Care" covers.

Orange Care includes unauthorised calls (I dont know what the limit is) but importantly there is no first £25 or anything to pay with an orange care claim.

They also provide a replacement phone next day courier - which is a lot better than the majority of other insurance offerings. I think for the quality of the insurance it is worth £5 a month.

AND you can take out "Care" retrospectively... which I always thought rather negated the point of insurance. Check out "Emergency Care" (if it's still on offer) The idea seemed to be that for a one-off payment, you could take out insurance the day AFTER your phone was stolen/run over by a truck, and backdate the insurance to the day BEFORE it happened. Given that the "one off" payment is less than a year's premiums... I can't think of a better reason NOT to take out insurance. With "emergency care", if your phone doesn't get stolen or whatever... there's nothing to pay! Does Care include "water damage"? I don't remember.

Is there any excess payable when making a claim?

Yes, £25 is payable against all valid claims.

If my mobile phone is accidentally damaged, how do I get it repaired?

Advise CUSC by telephone, on FREEPHONE 0800 980 1980. A claim form will be forwarded to you immediately advising you as to where the phone will be dispatched for immediate repair.

(no instant replacement here!)
