Guest studiosonic Posted December 5, 2002 Report Posted December 5, 2002 Sorry to post OT (but then it's all to do with getting an SPV, so not completely!). I rang up my network provider (cellular operations) last week and was told that i would be able to get my PAC over the phone today. I rang up today and...quel suprise, they say that's not possible and i'll get it in the post in the next 7 days! I tried to argue this morning, but didn't have time because i was late for work. I'll give them another try this evening. Should they be able to give it to me over the phone? Am i asking a lot, or should be just a case of reading a code of a computer screen. I've ordered my SPV, but it's on hold until i get my PAC. I could just go ahead with the order and transfer my number across later. However, after speaking to Orange today, they didn't seem to think that would be possible, even thought i know for a fact that it is.....i would rather avoid having to go through all that and get my PAC number now! I just want an SPV on Orange with my old number - is that so much to ask!
Guest MrSpoons Posted December 5, 2002 Report Posted December 5, 2002 couldn't you just get the new phone first on a new number but use call forwarding on your other one to point any calls to your spv? I've done that for the last couple of days and it works fine. If you decide you don't like the spv and send it back at least you don't have to go through the hassle of porting your number back again
Guest studiosonic Posted December 5, 2002 Report Posted December 5, 2002 Well, i could for a short term solution, but i'm still pissed off with cellular operations after being lied to by them  - it's the principle damn it  . They told i could have my PAC number over the phone and now they tell me i can't and i have to wait for it. I won't be sending the SPV back, and I want to go to Orange anwyay, so i definitely want to get the ball rolling on the number transfer. But should they be able to give it to me over the phone like they said? Anyone?
Guest boinging Posted December 5, 2002 Report Posted December 5, 2002 Phones 4U did give me my PAC over the phone, although they also sent it. I don't think there is any reason why you shouldn't be able to get your PAC over the phone! I suggest a rant and rave may be in order... :x  :x
Guest pgm316 Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 They do seem to be as unhelpful as possible without breaking any rules they must follow. Vodafone have ignored my letter and said my email is insuficient for security rules and I must phone. Just cost me 25p phoning them to tell me I've got to phone during office hours for the pac number service....
Guest Confucious Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 I thought they had to giive them over the phone now. I moved my number from Cellnet to T-Mobile to Three back to T-Mobile and now onto Orange. The only problem I've ever had was when Three first started they took a long time to transfer the number but I've never had any problem requesting a PAC and getting it over the phone. Provided you're not still in contract I can't see why you should have a problem. I've just remembered that when i came to Orange i wrote the PAC down wrong so when I gave it to orange it didn't work. While I was on the phone to Orange they contacted the T-Mobile PAC team and got the correct code and everything went through in 5 days
Guest pgm316 Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 Is there any other problems that pay as you talk customers have when tranfering numbers?
Guest Confucious Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 I've never had Pay as you talk (can't afford it - contract works out So much cheaper) so don't know. Sorry.
Guest pgm316 Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 PAYT Used to work out cheap, and still does if you don't plan to use the thing! Thats why I want the PAC number and move to a decent contract. My other concern about PAYT is losing the phone and struggling to get the number back.
