stOpid SMS counter

Well I just did a hard reset on my phone, and to my surprise I had an sms counter *cheer*!

But it appears to be very odd. When I reply to sms to numbers that aren't in my phonebook, I have the counter. If I add the number to my phonebook, and then try to reply to one of their messages... the counter isn't there! *snort*

I crave paypal to accept my freaking credit card, so I can use Planus SMS *sigh* :x

Aye, the SMS-counter-that-isn't-sometimes is bloody annoying - on mine there doesn't seem to be any particular time when it works/doesn't work. The only time I can get it to work every time is by typing the telephone number manually (as if I can remember all my contacts' numbers...)
