Guest malloc Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 [EDIT] PocketMVP 8R Beta3 out!!! Get the NEW VERSION of the player here: http://smartphone.modaco.com//viewtopic.php?t=61676 The link below also works (author's website) ----------------------------------------------------------------- Beta2 is out (full sources also) : Download What's new : - Added resume function (reload last file played, where it was when the player was stopped) - Added Playlists handling (texte file with .pdl extension, they must have one line by file with the full path and filename) - Added better video/audio file selection - small bugs fixed (including the FAMOUS Menu BUG  ) - Added a dialog Help with key mappings I'll probably add a small dialog to configure the audio equalizer, try to correct the bugs you'll find, and then I'll stop ;) ...after that... I'll finish MicroTurismo... and after : 3D  malloc
Guest drblow Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 Just one question - Does this new version still work with the old Clinteastman virtual dub settings & divx 5.02 codec?? If not, are there new settings available?
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 Any one else lost the sound from movies?
Guest madu Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 You're a * !!! Thanks! I'll probably add a small dialog to configure the audio equalizer, try to correct the bugs you'll find, and then I'll stop Oh the eqaliser!!!! Can't wait!!
Guest malloc Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 DOH ! I forgot something in this build... :? (The registry is not initialized correctly -> no sound...) That should be fixed now, for those who have already downloaded it, please redownload the new one. Sorry about that  malloc

Guest madu Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 I just changed 'Audio' value to '1' in registry... Any other changes malloc? Or am I ok with that change?
Guest malloc Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 @madu : there's also some other reg keys to configure in order to make it work properly. I'd suggest uninstalling, deleting all the reg keys, and installing the new one... malloc
Guest jim80b Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 dude this it a great player... i see you took pockettv's ideas of switching the softkeys, i kept pressing the wrong one hehe :-) can you give a descript of what filtering does, for vidoe and drawbacks in fps. i just converted italian job and it plays great 24 frames, its a widescren so will try out full screen. also whats the best audio we can get (ie can we get decent stereo or is that a dream...) many thank for a great player :-D
Guest Rusty Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 I presume the old one requires uninstalling prior to the installation of this one, if so, could someone point me in the right direction to uninstall it as it is not listed under my 'Remove Programs' menu. I have 8R Beta1 installed atm. Regards Rusty
Guest caio1 Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 Are you sure it's not there? It's called PocketMVP (not PocketDIVX) Caio
Guest caio1 Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 However I always installed new versions of PocketMVP over old ones. And it always told me that there was an old version installed and that it would have removed it for me ;) Then just try. Caio
Guest Rusty Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 Yup, worked fine thanks caio1 ;) now all i need to do is get me a whopping great SD card and i'm sorted
Guest Simon Desser Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 I'm having an absolute nightmare with PocketDivx and my Tanager. Every version has worked fine on my SPV, no problems. But I can't get any to work on my Tanager. Until this one, which works fine about one in ten goes. Sometimes it plays back ok, then the picture freezes, then if I try and exit the program the whole phone crashes :?: It also must have altered something in the registry, cos now my backlight stays on permanently, even after re-booting. I'm going to try a hard reset, cos I love this app. so much, but I don't hold out much hope, as this was the first thing I installed on my Tanager when it was fresh out the box. Has anyone managed to get this working on a Tanager :?:
Guest madu Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 PS: After uninstalling/removing the previous version you need to delete: HKCMSoftwarePocketMVP key before installing a new version. I have been playing with it for the past few hours (*feels sad*) I found: - It does open a different file without exiting PocketMVP (flagged up by Malloc) - Videos (honda2&matrix trailers) play fine. Resume works. Pause/Play - ok, fast. Stop - ok. - Audio (mp3s: 3min&50min) play fine. Take long to start. Pause, but do not resume after pause. Also, resume feature does not work after player restarts on mp3 (video is ok). Resume worked ok with mp3 in the first version (PocketDivx4). - Skins not fully functional. Seek, volume, play/pause, info work fine with video. Does not show 'pause' button when playing mp3's. Info (on top) does not scroll (even if Scroll=1 in .pds file) NOTE: MP3s were tested using both MP3LibCE.dll for PocketDivx4 and PocketMVP 8R1 (first and last versions). Q: Is MP3LibCE.dll a specific PocketMVP library or can other mp3 libraries be used (there were a few sources on PocketPC site for MVP)? ********* Now those great discoveries were made in the process of making a skin! Find it here *********
Guest Simon Desser Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 PS: After uninstalling/removing the previous version you need to delete: HKCMSoftwarePocketMVP key before installing a new version. Madu, there's a pint with your name on it at the next MoDaCo event ;) It's probably very obvious to most people, but I'm not a "registry person" Anyway, I took the plunge, installed PHM RedEdit, did what you said, and it SEEMS to have done the trick :) Something must have gone wrong when I first installed PocketDivx, and the registry was bol**xed, remaining like that through various installs & uninstalls and ROM updates etc. I'm happy again :D
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 Sorry... I should of said i deleted the key in my second post! Would have saved you some time simon. ;)
Guest madu Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 Madu, there's a pint with your name on it at the next MoDaCo event :) I'll be happy to share it with Malloc if we get MP3's sorted ;) ...as I stopped using WMP altogether now since mostly play livesets in mp3 (up to 100MB~60min per file) and WMP only handles first 20*ish* minutes of it :D [idle thought] sh*t, i'd have to spend hours converting these every week. thanks there's now this beauty [& the beast (mp3)] DOH! [/idle thought] Regards!
Guest drblow Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 So... does it still work with ClintEastmans original virtual dub & divx 5.02 settings?? I spent ages getting my alpha version working, and I'm too scared to get the new one until I know all the facts!
Guest Chris Edwards Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 There is no reason that his encoding settings wouldn't work if they worked before.
Guest malloc Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 I'll add a "reset registry settings" menu in the next version, that should solve all the registry related issues. For the MP3. I didn't have enough time to investigate yet (it's a nightmare to debug this kind of multiple DLLs app with the crappy emulator...it's so sloooooow) So what I did was a quick and dirty patch -> no more seek or pause while playing a mp3 -> until the bug is sorted out. @madu : There's 2 DLLs used. One to extract the data stream from the MP3 file : MP3READER.DLL and one to decode the audio from the stream : MP3LibCE.DLL. You might be able to replace those two by other ARM MP3 Dlls found for MVP on PocketPC as long as they are for the .08 version. But like you, I tried the previous Alpha04 DLLs without any success... @simon : About the Tanager, I know someone who has one, and uses PocketMVP without any trouble. But it might be a IPSM issue (like PocketTV), have you tried to install it on the SDCard instead of the phone memory ? And about the Filtering, what it does is a Dithering of the picture at decoding stage, to "emulate" 24 bit rendering instead of 16 bits, but on a such small screen, you wont really be able to tell the difference... I'll probably remove this option as it uses cpu... Beta3 is planed for next weekend, I'll work on MP3/OGG issues and on the equalizer  . malloc
Guest caio1 Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 Will there be wma support? WindowsMedia is really to slow... Thank you for the great work! Caio
