Guest fozzie Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 Nice ;) All works fine except 'Show IMEI number' - Result of the quesry is "failed to fetch IMEI - acces rights not sufficient". As an aside, I've just seen on the website that Orneta Reader is coming soon. Care to tempt us with a few more details ? :)
Guest Orneta Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 Nice ;) All works fine except 'Show IMEI number' - Result of the quesry is "failed to fetch IMEI - acces rights not sufficient".This is limitation of the smartphone - we are just calling proper method. As an aside, I've just seen on the website that Orneta Reader is coming soon. Care to tempt us with a few more details ? :) Orneta Reader is a tool for reading text files (like eBooks) of any size (even of size of several MBs; no size limits whatsoever) - page by page - without scrollbars. Trial (freeware) version will be fully functional in reading of text and HTML files but if you buy registration code (4.44 USD) then it will read also other formats (we cannot say at this moment which). At first we will release initial basic version with just text file reading but it will be extended with many many features and more file formats.
Guest fozzie Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 Great, sounds promising. It'll be interesting to see what formats you support compared to ClearVue, when that is released. I look forward to trying both ;)

Guest Orneta Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 Ok, in a similar vein to RepliGo then? No, RepliGo requires format convertions to RepliGo format. Orneta Reader will read native formats (text and HTML for free; other not) without convertions.
Guest fozzie Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 So this is another piece of software I'm going to find permanently residing on my SPV ;) Are you able to say what formats, other than .txt & .html, Orneta Reader will natively read? Thanks.

Thanks. Sorry, I prefer not to say what formats. We will try to concentrate on various e-Book reading features first and then we will be adding formats with time.

Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Thanks for the update ;) another great app improved. What about adding battery status? I know we already have it with Task Manager but it's still something that could be classed as "testing"

Guest Simon Desser Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Excellent! Thanks :) One question, can the "Power off fast" do any harm, like pulling off the battery could? It's just, if the phone is capable of turning off so fast, why does it actually take so long? The soft reset is brilliant, I'm wondering if it might be useful as a seperate app on it's own, that runs in the background all the time, then might it be possible to activate it with a combination of key presses, rather like "CTRL, ALT, DEL" ? EDIT:- Oops! Just seen earlier thread about soft reset program
Guest Orneta Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 Excellent! Thanks :) One question, can the "Power off fast" do any harm, like pulling off the battery could? It's just, if the phone is capable of turning off so fast, why does it actually take so long? "Fast" means that system has no time to send closing messages to running applications so if you have applications running in backgroud, then "Power off fast" can theoretically do some harm in the sense, that data will not be saved or something like that. But hey, the same happens when you pull off the battery ! So it should not be a problem in general.
Guest Soyale Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 Soft reset: I believe the system also flushes certain registry entries to the IPSM during the power down. The fast reset may prevent this from happening and cause registry corruption. The only evidence I have to support this is from a similar prog we wrote that seemed to make some of my apps uninstallable from time to time. Get IMEI : You need to be signed with priveleged rights to be able to call the APIs to use the various exTAPI functions to get the IMEI. You'll find if you sign the app with your dev cert and push your dev cert to the device it will start to work! HTH jp
Guest NederSoren Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 I would still like it to test all the different kids of ligt in the phone (LEDs, Keypad, backlitghts..) :)
Guest idavid Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 looking forward to reader, one thing i miss from pocketpc is all my ebooks! now we only need avantgo!

Guest dinoalbert Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Soft reset question: will my personal/customized settings (Themes, Ringtones, System Sounds, non-standard skin tweaks eg. Incoming call, alert, Information, Exclamation, etc) be preserved when I do a soft reset using this app? Or will everything return to default setting and lost all your customized settings? I am asking this because this is what happend when I used the Reset app discussed in this thread http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...=58254&start=15 thanks...
