Guest Oakley Posted December 5, 2002 Report Posted December 5, 2002 [Edited by Site Admin, thanks for the submission Oakley!] SYMPTOM: When I place the SPV in my cradle while it is off, I get the error message shown below. I'm running Windows XP Pro (sp1) on a Dell Latitude C400. It might not be a big deal for most users, but this error triggers a 'high severity error' log entry on my firm's SMS (Microsoft Systems Management Server) server!
Guest Bazz Posted December 5, 2002 Report Posted December 5, 2002 Yeah I get that on Win 2000. Basically if it's turned on ActiveSync seems to recognize it and intercepts windows from recognizing it. If it's turned off it looks like a new USB device and windows stops to wonder what to do with it. Bit of a pain, but then again why plug it in if it's off? Barry
Guest Oakley Posted December 5, 2002 Report Posted December 5, 2002 why plug it in if it's off? Yeah, I'd agree that it's not a show stopper... it's annoying to me because high severity events on the managment server send a text page to my email address... which comes to my SPV - so when I turn my phone on, it alerts me (in a long, rambling, round-about way) that it has been turned off. :D
Guest madu Posted December 7, 2002 Report Posted December 7, 2002 I second that! on WinXP Pro. I would not expect it to get registered by OS untill it's on though! But it identifies it even if it's off - identifies as USB error)
