[Edited by Site Admin, thanks for the submission Oakley!]

SYMPTOM:

When I place the SPV in my cradle while it is off, I get the error message shown below.

I'm running Windows XP Pro (sp1) on a Dell Latitude C400. It might not be a big deal for most users, but this error triggers a 'high severity error' log entry on my firm's SMS (Microsoft Systems Management Server) server!

Yeah I get that on Win 2000.

Basically if it's turned on ActiveSync seems to recognize it and intercepts windows from recognizing it.

If it's turned off it looks like a new USB device and windows stops to wonder what to do with it.

Bit of a pain, but then again why plug it in if it's off?

Yeah, I'd agree that it's not a show stopper... it's annoying to me because high severity events on the managment server send a text page to my email address... which comes to my SPV - so when I turn my phone on, it alerts me (in a long, rambling, round-about way) that it has been turned off.

I second that! on WinXP Pro. I would not expect it to get registered by OS untill it's on though! But it identifies it even if it's off - identifies as USB error)
