Guest Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Is anyone having problems with GPRS in the UK. I just cannot get the G sign at the top of the screen, I believe I have the correct settings (if someone knows the exact ones i would be most grateful). Orange Data Services keep on fobbing me off with replies of new SIM updates and it will take 24hrs to activate. It's been two days now!!! Great piece of equipment pity can't get GPRS. It's also stopping me from de-cert'ing the phone
Guest Vector Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Nope, mine's not working either  There's a bit about it here
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Unfortunately GPRS on Orange has been up and down for the past week or so...
Guest PsychoDave Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Yup its kinda wierd here too. I've got no Big G but I can still make GPRS calls :? Still got the dialling bug tho ;)
Guest drblow Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 PsychoDave - Thats weird m8 - I'm in Edinburgh, & have good GPRS coverage at the minute. My only problem is the occassional stuck on dialling... - but thats easily remedied by closing IE with taskmanager & reconnecting.
Guest James Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 do orange know about the dialing bug? do you know if anyone it going to fix it?
Guest malefrag Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Hello!! i am trying to conect to the inernet, and all i get every time is an error message that says"unable to place call". i phoned orange like 10 times and all they do is to keep sending me settings, but i cannot use the net!!! maybe the phoe has a problem....i dont know wat to say... does anyone has the right setings,or can someone tell me how can i make a master reset so i can do everyhing from the begining??? Guest Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 It's cannot be the phone! Can dial out if use the pass through option in data connections and connect via the internet. Know as was able to backup to Orange without any problems. I keep on getting the same response from Orange Data helpline. Not very good this GPRS thing ;)

If your GPRS settings were wrong in the phone then this would cause a failure in connection to the GPRS services but the G should still appear on the phone when switched on. If there is no centre G then it could be one of three things. 1 The GPRS serving node is down, in which case there would be many people with a similar problem. 2. The BVC for the cell you are on is blocked and preventing communication to the GPRS node. 3. GPRS has not been activated on your account, causing the IMSI attach to fail when successfully accessing the GPRS node. Has GPRS ever worked for on your SIM ? Note that when customer services have successfully activated GPRS on your account you may need to turn radio off/on or power cycle the phone to attempt an attach to the GPRS network.
Guest Raify Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 my gprs has been down from friday, the g re-appeared yesterday but it still couldn't connect. today, it's finally working (in kent) in the nick of time, i was moments from cancelling the whole gprs thing.
