Guest timodonnell Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 OK questions forst: I asked 156 to set up MMS and GPRS. Eventually got one SIM update message. Read it, deleted it. Rebooted. MMS now works. GPRS doesn't. I read the many different GPRS advice messages on here, fiddled endlessly with settings so have probably now got it all wrong. Can anyone summarise what the settings should be in each area (PIE, Data Conenctions, WAP, GPRS etc)? Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help, Tim
Guest TZed9 Posted December 13, 2002 Report Posted December 13, 2002 Allthough MMS uses GPRS technology, GPRS for Web connection is a differeant Orange product, and will need to be subscribed to. You should call to verify you GPRS subscription. In data connections, internet should be set to Orange GPRS.

They should be able to sort you out :(
Guest motley Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 ok, i did nothing and just kept trying for a few hours, i didnt change any of the data connection settings, and it all of a sudden started working late last night... very strange..
Guest timodonnell Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Just for completeness: Eventually I got Orange to resend the Sim update - now it all works fine, GPRS when undocked and thru PC when docked :-)
Guest motley Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 and as if by magic, it has stopped working again
Guest chewie Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 and as if by magic, it has stopped working again  Your phone is possesed, i think you need to go down the local church and do a exorcism :D
Guest nsincaglia Posted December 30, 2002 Report Posted December 30, 2002 I have had this same problem with the HTC Canary phone. I am still trying to find a pattern as to what makes it start working and what causes it to stop working. It is very frustrating.
Guest budda Posted December 31, 2002 Report Posted December 31, 2002 I've had on going trouble trying to get any sort of Internet/email connection to work via the Orange GPRS package. Yesterday i got so annoyed waiting and waiting for SIM updates that never arrive that I got the woman @ 156 to talk me through the settings. Here's what she said to set up: In settings->data connections: press menu and select "edit connections". Then select "1 GPRS connections". Now select "1 Orange GPRS". The settings on this page should be: connects to: the internet access point: orangeinternet username: (left blank) password: (left blank) Primary DNS: 158.43.192.1 Secondary DNS: 158.43.128.1 IP address: (left blank) Can anybody confim that the above is indeed correct on a working Orange GPRS phone? I still can't get my phone to work after setting the above as instructed  It's doing my head in.

Mine were both set to 0.0.0.0 until yesterday evening when I was told that was incorrect and I should have had them set when my phone was activated at time of purchase.
Guest The Futures Bright Posted December 31, 2002 Report Posted December 31, 2002 Yes my Internet Explorer works fine via GPRS no problems at all. :D
