I am using divx 5.02 at 200x150 165kpbs with fps at 11-13 depending on source.

with filter bicubic a=-1 and rotate 90 degr. right

max keyframe at 15 and 50 on the scene change threshold.

and audio lame mp3 11025khz at 16bit mono

which gives me exellent quality movies although the size might be a bit large try these examples i've converted and comment them so I can get better at this divx thingy

m8, try using Bilinear instead of Bicubic, Bicubic is meant for enlargment and bilinear is for reduction :)

At your compession rate how big is a whole film?

I had Cradle to the Grave at 70 Mb

I think that the maximum upload limit on modaco is 5mb, and that's why you can't upload terminatior 3, maybe not though.

I have noticed that within VDub in the preferences option there is a CPU tab, the default setting is that Virtual Dub will optimise the movie file for the machine it is installed on, you can however override this and set the optimistation for a 486 or higher machine, at the moment I'm experimenting with this will post if I notice any differences

Is it possible to decimate with other than hole numbers like decimate a 25 fps movie with 2,5 so that the fps would be 10????

is there any chance people could post their virtual dub settings on here?

If you go to File-->Save Processing Settings you can save them as a .vcf file.

I did have this down to a fine art then lost mine and so far I've taken about 40 goes and still no luck

cheers

Have a go with these ones!

There is two setting files, one letterbox, the other not.

you get smoother results from the letterbox settings.

Im not sure if they carry across the DivX settings, so make sure it's set to 110Kbps.

EDIT - These ones are new and should work, please tell me if they dont.

I can't get those settings to work :?: I goto file --> load processing settings and choose the letterbox settings. Then i coose the mpeg that i want to convert, save it as a .avi. But when i try to play it on windows media player i get a very wierd picture and when i try to play it with pocket mvp on the phone it just automattically quits out, please help

You may want to enter the Video>Filters menu, then click cancel.

Sometimes this helps Vdub take loaded settings into account. Don't know why or how.

And to prove it i have the final Matrix Trailer ready to go! zipping it up now.

:) Im having trouble encoding DivX files. When I select audio compression I go to MPEG 3 but no settings appear on the right had pane. If I use ClintEastmans settings I get Audio Compression failed. I've tried downloading lame mp3 codec, still no luck.

Can someone help please?
