Guest IA Style Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Thank you all for joining the IA Caller ID beta-1 testing. On May 6, we will extend the current private beta format to public beta. We will open a dedicated beta area at our http://www.iastyle.com site to simplify the downloading of beta program/ID templates and submitting bug reports. For those of you who had tested various other Caller ID types of applications, we also would like to collect your valuable opinions and comments. What are the basic (must-have) factors for you, when selecting the preferred Caller ID application for Smartphone?
Guest Myke Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 good to see a company doing research! its good SOMEONE knows how to please their customers. Here's a few things that will make me choose which caller ID program i will go with: - I want full screen images of my callers. I didnt buy a phone with a huge screen for no reason. I had to make my t68i caller id images tiny, please dont make me for my spv. - program should not take up too many resources, it should not make my phone slow. those are the two main things i can think of, here are some other lesser ones: - it would be nice to display information with the pic: callers name, number, mobile/home etc.. maybe the images could be slightly smaller to make room for this text, but not too much smaller! or it could go over the picture on the bottom right or top or something. - different pic for mobile/home/etc. - random pic option? thats all i can think of
Guest IA Style Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Okay! IA Caller ID (Beta-2) is ready for public download and evaluation now! You can find details here: http://www.iastyle.com/iacallerid/index.asp Please post your testing comments and questions here. Thanks for your participation.
Guest Myke Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 i havent downloaded it yet, but i think the templates are a good idea. i think when smartphones get more popular, templates could be the way for people to customize themselves in other peoples phones, for example, I could create a template for myself with my picture included and a little background and everything and then there could be a way for me to send it to one of my friends phones (frlom my phone) who could open it and it would install itself into my friends IA caller ID. so whenever i called it would show. I think people would enjoy creating their own templates and sending them to their friends. that would be nice :)
Guest rklosinski Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 I loaded IA caller id and the pictures on the SD. When calls come in, the picture is not shown. whats up? richard
Guest fozzie Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 Have you reset the phone since installing it. That's what I had to do.
Guest Lojt Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 What are the basic (must-have) factors for you, when selecting the preferred Caller ID application for Smartphone? It should be easy to customize and add pictures.

Guest Myke Posted May 8, 2003 Report Posted May 8, 2003 could you explain what this is "- Improved synchronization between Contacts and IA Caller ID "
Guest IA Style Posted May 8, 2003 Report Posted May 8, 2003 The synchronization between Pocket Contacts and IA Caller ID means: - When you New a contact entry in IA Caller ID, it will be write into Pocket Contacts - When you add/edit the contents in Pocket Contacts, the reading in IA Caller ID will be updated correctly when you enter IA Caller ID or issue the Refresh command in IA Caller ID
Guest jason8 Posted May 8, 2003 Report Posted May 8, 2003 You guys have done a great job with BETA2, the contacts integration is a great help!!! On tiny comment is that if you have a picture taken in landscape, on some of the templates you end up with 2 white bands on the top and the bottom. I know its an animated gif so it may be a bit tricky to change it. Another minor thing is that if you assign a picture to a contact and confirm it and say exit the program, you have to click on 'assign a picture' again and find the picture for the contact before you can change/remove a template. So maybe in the next release you can add the feature when you are looking at a one of your contacts, you can click 'Menu => Change Template' so you dont have to search through all your photos before you can change your template. Great App otherwise!!! Keep up the good work!
Guest IA Style Posted May 8, 2003 Report Posted May 8, 2003 ......On tiny comment is that if you have a picture taken in landscape, on some of the templates you end up with 2 white bands on the top and the bottom. I know its an animated gif so it may be a bit tricky to change it....... There are two picture fitting options (Smart Fit and Fit to window) allowed in the Display Settings screen when select to use the "Use template" mode. If you select the "Fit to window" option, the entire photo will be fit into the template's composition window and therefore the top/bottom bands will be created for landscape style photo. Change the "How to fit photo" option to "Smart fit" will allow you to see the composition window filled entirely with the selected photo. Hope this helps.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 How can I get the picture to show up in the lower left with the standard Orange Call screen in the back...like in your example picture?photoid_pic01.gif

Guest dinoalbert Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 question: Im using Smartface. If I install the new IA Caller ID...would it overwrite Smartface? If someone calls, which one works...IA caller ID or Smartface? thanks...
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 IA won't over write SF, but you'll probably find they fight to display their pictures, to the extent that your answer-machine will probably kick in before one wins :)
Guest andie Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 HI ,in the final release if you turn your fone off and on will you have to reinitalize caller id for it to work or will registering this app sort it out. thanx
Guest jhew Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Great app! However, I have found that it effects my gprs connections. When in IE if I try to connect to a site it sticks on 'dialing'. Sometimes if I re-boot the phone I may be able to get online once right away. If I end the Caller Display process/application using task manager my gprs works again. Weird. Otherwise a superb app!.
Guest Gorskar Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 I've noticed the same thing. My GPRS seems to work ok when the phone is first switched on, but after a while it gets stuck on "dialing". Killing the CallerID process brings it back up. Also a suggestion... some "large picture" templates please! The phone's got a big colour screen, so may as well use it! great app, keep up the good work.
Guest IA Style Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 HI ,in the final release if you turn your fone off and on will you have to reinitalize caller id for it to work or will registering this app sort it out. thanx In the final released of V1.0, IA Caller ID should be able to make all the setup ready after you turn off/on the phone once.
Guest IA Style Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 IA Style is collecting the GPRS bug related information from our Beta testing program. The impact to GPRS connection is a confirmed and repeatable bug in IA Caller ID Beta-1 and 2. A new beta will be released in a day or two to address the GPRS connection bug and other issues. We look forward to your further comments.
