SMS Characters Counter

HI!

Just got my SPV yesterday and I am pretty happy.. :) As it is quite a complicated phone (has lots of possibilities) I am still searching and playing with it.

I have realized that when you send a SMS there is not a counter so you do not know how many characters have u written. Aswell I would like to pass all my contact details from my old Sim Card to the phone (because basically Orange gave me a new sim card and invalidated the old one).

Can anyone help me with these 2 things?

Welcome to the SPV m8!

At the minute there is no sms counter. :cry:

You can DL an app for the phone called Orneta notes - which allowa writing text files. It will allow sending of sms messages, and has a letter counter - but can't specify contacts from your phone book, so have to manually input numbers each time. :evil:

You need to decertify the phone (software signature removal) to install this application - and a whole world of other good s**t!! Searchthe forum for instructions - the best option is the Orange developers unlock site.

As for your contacts from your old sim card - I know a bloke in Carphonewarehouse who can do it...

Or use SIM manager in the "Programs" menu...

i dont know about the sms counter, but you can use the program on the spv 'sim manager', just click on 'select all' then, copy to contacts.

if your sim card is from another provider and your phone is locked, there is a little utility that finds the unlock code for you throught he USB connection. (check the forum or something .)

When I got my SPV I just did it the temporary way- put the charger in with the attachment, not the cradle, then turn off, swap sim and turn on, should work.

Then just select all contacts and copy across to phone memory.

My phone has an SMS counter! Well sometimes anyways... It seems that if I go to the menu Inbox/SMS it doesn't work... However, if I attach a shortcut to someones phone number it works! Not sure why... I am in the US and bought my phone from the UK. I currently have version 1.3.5.0 (but will attempt an upgrade to 1.3.5.6 this weekend or tonight) so we'll see how it works then...

I passed my contacts with the SIM Manager. I suppose very soon there will be a counter somewhere!!

Is it possible to send a picture via infrared?? I know how to recieve files but not to send them.. :?

Yep, I can post screen prints if you like... I think I may have a phone that has some kind of hybrid between the UK and DK firwares (I am guessing)...
