dont have a clue about the one on the left, but the one on the right is cerdisp. you have to use taskman and view processes to kill it.

Sorry, I should've been clearer - I know what the icons are for (left one is gprs counter) I want to know why it has moved way over left. It used to appear beside the battery meter. Now I cant read any title info.

Does it look the same when you are on the homescreen?

Em... the cerdisp was open so i could screen dump to get a pic of whats going on, to make the post easier to understand. Killing cerdisp doesnt remedy it.

It doesnt appear on the home screen, but the icon never does appear on home screen, only when I hit programs & go to the menu.

Well, it's gone now coz I removed gprs counter - I was also experiencing some weirdness with IE - so maybe it was just a bug in the gprs prog??

Is nobody developing a FREE gprs counter?!?

Apparently there is some kind of hardware feature that can be triggered in Canary Bootloader (up to 0.93) that shows Tx/Rx data, but that only lasts till reboot or something and obviously does not give you any analysis of the data... I don't use it since GPRS is free now and when it is to be paid for, I will stop using i-net.

Interesting you should mention this, I've also noticed a few apps whose icons move/disappear altogether when I navigate away from the homescreen. Just a case of slighly lax coding/lack of testing, I suspect. Still, I don't ask the world of freeware, I'm just happy it's available. It's not such a good thing where pay-software (like GPRS traffic-counter, which seems to be causing the problem in this case) is concerned.

Not too sure if it was GPRS counter - after uninstalling it, I the had another icon appear later on the iconbar (just the default little white box).

I'm now wondering if it is cerdisp - there is a small icon appears when cerdisp is connected, and it's the only app which does that. It's also the only other thing I have installed since getting these icons appearing. If it is, it's a pity, but not enough to make me stop using cerdisp - coz it rules!! :)

It's not a big deal, just one of those annoying little things you wish didn't happen!

drblow: wouldn't surprise me if it was cerdisp - it is a PPC app really :)

I have used cerdisp and the GRPS tracker for months now and have had no problems with icons going walk-about...

(Not yet, anyway).

It must be cerdisp (see attatched pic).

I rebooted the phone & the random icon dissappeared. Then, the next time I opened cerdisp, when I closed it - the WMP icon had appeared on the icon bar - again obscuring some of the text!

I didn't even have WMP open! Only thing I can think of is that the skin I have (SP3) has a shortcut to WMP in it?!?

Does anybody think if I uninstall cerdisp & re-DL it, that it might solve the prob? It's not like it affects anything really, but it is annoying when using IE, to not be able to read the text on the iconbar for Dialling.... Connecting... etc.

That's the activesync icon in the screenshot you attached, not WMP  ...

 You're absolutely correct!! I really must try to stop smoking so much crack in the afternoons!! :)

Well then, I suppose activesync was connected while I was using cerdisp!

Any ideas why it's happening? Or how to make it stop!!

HA! It's getting worse!!

Must be the drugs! :) :(

This is a shame coz I use cerdisp every time I'm connected to the PC. But it sucks too much when the wee icons obscure all the text on the top.

But it looks like cerdisp is for the bin!

how can I remove Cerdisp?

I have tried "Remove Programs" in "Settings" - Not there

I have looked in my Task Mngr - No process there to end.

I have browsed to Cerdisp.exe using the smartphone explorer but it will not allow me to remove. Some process is obviously using it.

I have tried to remove it via activesync explorer but still no luck.

depends on how you installed it. If you used the PPC version of cerdisp then it most likely will not show up in the remove programs app. If you are using the version of cerdisp that came with the developer power toys, then the actual EXE file is placed in the windows directory and when you reboot the device it will be removed on it's on. Anything saved to the windows directory (not IPSMwindows) is lost upon reboot because windows is part of the ROM.

I suggest that Smartphone users use the cerdisp that comes with the developer power toys as it doesn't require you to install the app, it loads the app to the phone automatically upon connection. Then, as mentioned above, the app on the phone goes away upon reboot. very cool, since there's really no reason to have the EXE taking upon disk space all the time.

As for the first post about the GPRS icon, it could be the GPRS icon used in conjunction with the cerdisp icon. All-locations had the same EXACT issue on the PPC platform. If another icon was slightly bigger then it suppose to be, it would cause the GPRS icon to push way over to the left of the screen. I've seen this exact thing happen while using ALL-locations GPRS monitor on my PPCPE.

what app are you using to display icons in the icon bar? Typically, those icons would not show there, so some other app is running to place those icons up there. Maybe it's a conflict between that app and GPRS monitor (see my previous post).
