I was sat out in the sun yesterday (the joy of bein a lazy student) and when i came inside picked up my SPV and found it was completly dead nothing would respond so disconnected the batterey for 30 seconds and the retried, but the phone just froze. Hadnt changed anyhting on my phone, it appeared to have died all by itself.

Anyone else had this problem?

Today i went into the carphonewarehouse really pissed off since im having to use my mates crappy nokia, and was fully expecting them to tell me id have to wait a fortnight to get a repair. The guy didnt even look at the phone, he just said yep fine we will send you out a new phone either tomorrow or Monday, just like with Orange care, i was just so shocked.

Considereing two weeks ago, when i went to see about getting the dust problem sorted out a guy in a differnt CPW store just said it would be sent away for two weeks and their engineers dont even touch them, now im getting a sparkling new one in a day or two without scratched paint or screen and without the dust. Am A Happy Bunny again

Well Done CPW, but how have other people been treated byt he carphonewarehouse when they ahve gone in with a problem?

Does it seem reconditioned apart from new cover?

Re: Refurbished. You can always check that on SDIO slot - there are clear marks from the charger/cradle.

My phone hasn't gone so bad that I've had to replace it yet but I have had some dealings with Carphone Warehouse:

I'd phoned up the Link earlier that day and found out that they had 2 SPV's in stock at £150. Great, I thought. I made my way down to the shop, walked in and asked for an SPV.

"Don't have any in stock, I'm afraid", was the reply.

"But you had 2 an hour ago!", I retorted.

I asked how much they were, just to be on the safe side, to which they said £179. After a small period of getting a little bit agro with the staff for the misinformation over the phone I suddenly realised I wasn't in the Link at all. I was in Carphone Warehouse (such was my rabid anticipation to get the phone I stumbled blindly into the Goddamn wrong shop!). Dear me, wasn't I red.

I stammered an apology, did a swift 180 and prepared to run out of the shop in wild-eyed terror when they stopped me, offered to match the Link's price, slapped me with a 10% discount on that and promised next day delivery! Embarassment can pay up nicely sometimes.

But in anycase, I got my discount from the Carphone Warehouse and they also sent me a £35 credit voucher when the phone was reduced in price a couple of months later. Shame they keep constantly trying to sell me some telephone deal they've got going.

OK, a little of topic but I will echo that sentiment: Well done CPW!

If my phone goes bad I'll get Orange to replace it.

Havent got it yet so i dont know if it will be new or a refurb. The guy in the store definatley said "we will send you out a new one" but to be honest my SPV was so knocked about and dusty (too many trips out on the razzle) a refurb couldnt be any worse then my old one.

Only downside is i will proabbly have to spend at least half a day getting the new phone how i like it, through de-certing, reinstalling my progs, pics and ringtone and customising the menu, etc.

I've had dealings with CPW in the past.

I sent my sl45 off for repair with them a three times, every time it took longer than the 14 days the quote. Every time i asked them to update the firmwire (the source of all the errors on the phone) it was only on the 3rd repair they did anything. But i got my SPV the day after. The 3rd repair has also made the 2 softkeys very unresponsive, which is an arse.

But now i don't care, I use the SPV most the time, except for when i'm out on the piss, then out comes the tiny indestructable sl45.

Swish.

I'm on the carphone warehouse insurance too, however when the case cracked I took it in and they said I would have to pay 30 quid to get it fixed! F**k their insurance! I'm now stuck with a spv with a cracked case until the package runs out. Anyone know if I can switch to orange care half way through a contract?

You can take out emergancy care which is about £30 anyway, and then around £5 a month afterwards. You'll have to double check those prices.

The good news is that you'll get a new phone in 24hrs and not in a few weeks. Plus you can destroy your phone as many times as you want and get replacements.

Mmmm, insurance scams.....

Recieved my brand new....not reconditioned SPV this afternoon, complete with all the accessories, which means i now have a spare charger, spare camera, spare everything. They even sent me a new Sim card, although it doesnt appear to be working yet. Does anyone know whats likley to happen with it, will my old sim be terminated and i will have to switch to the new one or is it possible to have both reamain active? Cant help thinking this would be handy since it means i would have to keep switching my sim card between phones when i wanna take a smaller phone out with me.

Sounds like Orange have made a mistake there, as you should have ony received a

phone in exchange for your old one, a straight swap only.
